From the 'NRL Casualty Ward - All the Latest Injury News, Updates & Returns Details' web page, Here is the Latest NRL Injured or Unavailable Update:

* * * (Updated: Tuesday, 25 Jul 2023) * * *

Sea Eagles forward Taniela Paseka is set to miss the remainder of the regular season after rupturing his medial ligament in Round 21 against the Sharks.

The club confirmed Paseka will have an operation on Tuesday to repair the injury, with the recovery time estimated to be six weeks.

The news appears better for fellow forward Josh Aloiai, who suffered a recurrent shoulder dislocation against Cronulla, with scans revealing no significant worsening of the injury.

A shoulder specialist is now set to map out a management strategy for the remainder of the season.

Manly Sea Eagles
  • Taniela Paseka (Knee, Round 27-Finals Week 1)
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, TBC)
  • Ben Trbojevic (Hamstring, Round 23)
  • Karl Lawton (Calf, Round 23-24)
  • Tom Trbojevic (Pectoral, Season)

Also, from the NRL Casualty Ward, Manly hub page, there are slight variations to the information regarding the unavailable or injured players and their return periods:

  • Ben Trbojevic (Hamstring, Round 23)
  • Karl Lawton (Calf, Round 24)
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, TBC)
  • Tom Trbojevic (Pectoral, Next Season)
  • Taniela Paseka (Knee, Finals)

I would start Bullemore, drop Woods and bring GCKT on to the bench. Lets not die wondering against the red & white rabble. Go Manly.

All smoke, no fire!

For the love of God, PLEASE DROP WOODS!
He is simply not in our top 17 players, so why the fuk does he get picked?
Lodge, Keppie, Sipley, Bully all 100 times better that Woods. It's beyond a joke.

Why would Seibs drop Woods after a win and now down 2 props? We will need all hands on deck through the middle.

Toff and Bully in for Nella and JA. Unchanged line up after that.

Won't make a difference as this mob have a habit of thinking they're world champions after a win, and will no doubt show up next week flat, lazy, and uninterested with poor discipline and handling

DCE’s 300th,you’d hope they’d show up this week, despite it being against their nemesis

It’s the win one we didn’t expect , lose one we expect deal.

But maybe #DCE300 might make it competitive

I have been a fan but Woods was terrible in the second half slapping at the ball instead of tackling. We were as loose as a goose up the middle when that started.
To be completely fair , not only to Woods but all of the forwards , there was virtually no rotation as there was only Matterson on the bench , they were all completely ****ed and once the roll on , and the mass of penalties / 6 agains started , they were pushing **** up hill.

Woods in his first stint was pretty good, he’s not meant to be able to play 60 minutes in a game and when he had to , it showed.

I get most on here hate him , but the bias and one side of a story being pedalled by the haters is tiring.

Obviously the coaching staff see the other side , as he keeps getting picked.

Agree fully, Mark. I like a bit of context to go with the final result - that gives me a better idea of what actually happened in a game especially if I've missed part (or all) of it.

Regardless of how long any of them played , that last 20 minutes , with no Jake , really taxed those on the field at the time.

Honestly I truly believe had we not lost any player , we would have really gone on with that game in the second half and the fact we didn’t is more about injuries / rotation than lack of desire.

Can someone who is au fait with modern RL tactics inform me what is the role of a lock? I'm old school, so I can't get out of my head the images of Beaver, Coote, Clyde etc. yet we have a defensive draft horse, in Jurbo, playing lock.
Is a lock no longer the link between the forwards and the backs? Is he no longer fast, able to break tackles and cover defend?
If Jurbo is a good lock why is he always picked as a prop in representative teams?
I would have thought, within our current roster, the most suitable locks would be Burbo (injured), Bully or Madison.

Agree

Jakes a Prop , doesn’t have the lateral movement to be a good Lock.

But who knows , maybe the game has changed , like you I’m old school.

Yes! Let's get this done!

Now that they have got a sniff , could just provide that additional level of motivation .
Stats say they could be up against it but Dragons have been hardly world beaters this seasons , can still put together a fair game but so can Manly on their better days .
Another win will naturally change the dial again for a late season form and final"s surge or a form of a surge

Agree on Woods, thought he went well, and his post contact meters was up as well.

Seem to come in different shapes and sizes these days also [ 13 "s ] and even playing styles but certainly expected to base their games around : middle " roles . Big half Nelson from the Storm [ who has been used there a bit ] to Cam Murray and occasionally Granville from the Cowboys
Quite a contrast . .
Then expected to be able to manage a link role as well ,
Yeo probably continues to be the more suited prototype type 13 , Carrigan and Cotter probably good examples as well
Jake , does everything expected of him there but takes the ball up a bit too often for my liking with zero [ or close to ] benefit to the side and little value to the attacking momentum , Different matter if he is at prop but on the 3 rd or 4 th tackle at 13 , not really
Not a bad arrangement when Walker could come on and Jake then to prop but really do not have that option now , maybe Matterson , not sure whether Burbo has the wherewithal to be fashioned into a capable 13 . not to sure with Bully either . The Shu , ideally but no doubt will just have to wait and see .
