Well the irony is that without having a say in it we were moved to a new server which should have had better performance and stability.
It ended up with the site going down for 5 hours and the loss of data the other day. Unfortunately that is the straw that broke the camels back. I am looking for a new host, and i am sure many of you will be happy to know the new host I am looking for will be an Australian host, which means for the majority of people here, you should see an increase in speed of the site.
Whilst the site operates fairly quickly it is apparent to me it doesnt run fast enough and I am sure that most will agree.
An Australian host means that we qill be serving data locally and instead of having to send your request to the US and then have that responded to here, your request will go to a local server (likely in brisbane) and then straight to you.
The Tipping competition money will cover this and hopefully going forward the same will be true each year. It's high time now we have a professional site, that we have a professional service to go with it.
Sorry again for the inconvenience, it is unacceptable and I am livid with the host and how they have handled themselves the last few days. They will suffice for my other site but no longer for silvertails.
Cheers
Dan
