It's funny - away from this site and us, others aren't panicking about Manly's performance, much less calling for Gift to front row etc.
This is from Making the Nut: From the Couch -

Game of the Year Nomination, Round 9: Manly-Sydney Roosters, 4-16. In what shaped as an absolute belter between two top four teams, the Sea Eagles and Roosters didn't disappoint in what was a real ripper of a game. In what was a sensational disaplay of both attack and defence, the two teams played end-to-end footy but tries were hard to come by. In the first stanza, only a lucky intercept from Michael Jennings saw the Roosters jump to a lead. In the second, a wonderful catch from Steve Matai put the Eagles back into the game. It was searing, brilliant football between two excellent sides. The game really cranked up a notch when Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was rightly sent off for a heavy high shot on George Rose. The Roosters held firm though and took the points in an exceptional showing.

The author Nick Tedesci is a dogs fan and doesn't hold back on manly usually. He also has us 3rd on power rankings ahead of storm.

I don't disagree with that. Although thinks will have to come together soon and the injuries will have to stop.

Agree Stevo. Until we all start thinking the same and stop getting injured, we'll struggle. :p

I hated watching the game because it was close and frustrating, and we were behind. But to non fans of either club it was a great exhibition of high quality league apparently.

Both the games between Souths and the roosters, we displayed about 70percent of our potential, and the opposition close to their limit. If we can put our best team on the park, and get a fair share of decisions, I feel very confident of picking up the silverware at the end of the year.

I dont know about that. It was scrappy, lots of mistakes, dropped balls, poor options, stray passes and missed tackles. A lack of cohesion in attack from both sides - aided by good scrambling defense. The only thing going for it was that the scores were pretty even - other than that, I thought it was a crap game.

what are you doing here ??? why dont you go back and reminisce the glory you have succeeded in the last decade

    - winning a handicapped 15 team comp in 2003
    - losing the GF in 2004
    - that your team was so useless they couldnt win the GF in a handicapped 15 team comp in 2010....

dont like repeating myself like some here , but we dont care how well you think the chickens can play !!!

Just heard some very interesting news about SBW from a very reliable source. i won't post here due to site rules, but let's just say I doubt the Roosters will be a force at the business end of the season. I think we gave ourselves too much credit for shutting him down on Monday. There were other factors at play.

The biggest challenge for us is to keep getting enough wins over the next 6-8 weeks.
At the moment we lack some size with out king and Richie and our attack is scratchy.
If we can win 5 of our next 8 we will be their when the whips are cracking.

    Effort is great.
Execution is poor due to lack of go foward - direct footy.
    Injury & suspension riddled.
Will all fall into place nicely when it counts.
Good a chance as any for the 2013 title.

Yeah I marvel at how easily we seem to go 80 metres up field, then seem lost when 10 metres out.

Yeh its in that 20m zone & the opposition defence just drifts with us playing sideways, creating panick passes, cramped outside backs & easier targets - like the Jennings try.
Need the Choc, Symond, Horo running direct lines to halt the sliding defence as options & to keep the D in 2 minds creating confusion.

One thing that is easily forgotten in our glory years is that EVERY SINGLE LENGTHY LINE BREAK ended in a meat pie with Brett under the sticks. Not only do we not have that now due to Bretts struggles we don't seem to have anyone who consistently turns up in support at all except Jorge and he tends to panic a little when he gets there.

We were spoilt for a long time.I reckon it cost us 4 tries in the bunnies/roosters games which equals two wins.
