20 year old Rugby League player paralysed in tackle

Split-seconds on the sporting field can change a young life forever - a macabre reality that 20-year-old Kurt Drysdale's family has been forced to confront.

The "up and coming superstar" from Stanwell Tops, south of Sydney, was left breathing on a respirator following a rugby league tackle gone wrong, with fears he may be a quadriplegic.

"The guys on the field said he was instantly screaming in pain, and immediately lost feeling below his neck," his mother Sonya told The Illawarra Mercury.
