Zorba this morning

Just listening to Zorba on the radio and he mentioned that we will see an English forward at Manly prior to or just into this upcoming season.

Any ideas on who this could be?

Also some really interesting points after he’d been down to training recently. Mentioned that while we were very close to our first wooden spoon last year it won’t be happening under Des. He’s impressed with what he’s seen.

Hopoate is smashing records at the club and will debut this year

Garrick looks the goods, has blinding speed and wouldn’t be surprised to see him grab a starting centre spot.

Marty Taupau is super impressed with Des and hasn’t been happier. Was never going to leave the club.

Went to training with the bomb thrower last week;

• Team is much fitter, will be a lot better than last year. Des has put the Manly back in Manly
• Albert hoppa breaking club training records
• Reub Garrick to grab centre spot very fast
• Marty fit and happy, loving Des as coach
• A new signing/ English forward no name given

Last time I heard Zorba on radio suggest a mystery Pommy forward was on the way, but he wouldn’t say who, was the 1987 season which had already begun. And who turned up, Kevin Ward. And the result is glorious history.

Be interesting to know of the reasoning for recruiting a current international rated Pommy forward . Trying to bolster the prop stocks or cover or concern for a previously injury prone Siro in the back row . As long as he has the inclination to have a go and can play with some good discipline . Just with some of the pre season indications , Garrick looked to be going well and after finishing last season in really good form for the Dragon"s reserves and Garrick and Suli in some centre , wing combination has seemed likely for some time. Really good signs for young Hoppa , looks like the speculation has some accuracy with him being described as the best of the Hoppas to emerge to date

I have thought Suli was 300/1 against playing centre this year ..... always had him pencilled in as a powerhouse winger .... good to hear Garrick is showing some form .....
