EVER wondered what happened to Sea Eagles cult hero David “Wolfman” Williams?
If so, fans will be happy to know he is still running around and as fit as ever while tackling a new career challenge.
The former NSW and international winger is running creative sports-based programs, appropriately called Little Wolfies, at Brookvale’s Wattle Road Early Education Centre.
The Manly Daily dropped in on one of his sessions — which cater for children aged 3-5
and saw how much of a positive impact Wolfman had on the kids.
Williams takes on the Wolfman character during the sessions and makes a point of tapping into the kids’ imagination to ensure they are enjoying the activities.
“They don’t care who I am — all they see is a bearded fella who is running around and having a great time,” he said.
“That’s the Wolfman, that’s what it is to them and that works great.
”Whatever builds those habits and gets them playing and using their imagination — away from TV and phone screens — is all the better. “
Asked what was more energy-sapping, running around with 20-odd kids or a Sea Eagles training session, Williams said: ‘’It depends if you’re wrestling Georgie Rose or not.”
The centre offers the Little Wolfies program free to parents.
