Even if Snake was at his best (which we'd all bloody love) I would have to go with Trbo. With all our legends from the 'golden era' leaving and/or retiring we have done well getting to where we are today. A young side that needs to have a long term spine. Having both Green and Snake involved in it would just mean that in a few years when they are both done and dusted we would need to readjust the side. Why not build the side around the future, we need to leave those from the past out of it and focus on building the next decade of dominance rather than holding the process back by using older players in key positions. Snake has been an absolute legend to us, I bloody love him and I hope he can stay with the side in some way (same goes for Lyon and Skivy) although both he and we know the time is right for him to go.

It's not as simple as some of you make out. If Snake plays on then it's 700k of the salary cap running around in NSW Cup and that is simply not going to happen.

If Snake returns to full fitness and is ready to go then it makes sense to have Tom T in the centres. If Snake retires then all of the sudden we have 700k to play with and it's a different story altogether.

I don't buy the old "Snake has lost interest" crap. He was busted and still took the field. It saddens me no end how quickly manly fans turn on their own players. Snake is nearing the end of his career, and it's been a bloody good innings. If he didn't have to deal with injury and off field bullsh1t throughout his career, who knows the heights it could have hit.

Tom is an up and comer that will have a long and hopefully injury free career, and I will enjoy every moment of it along with you all. When he reaches the point that Brett is at now, I'll still back him.

As for the question at hand, Snake at fullback for me! His defence and organising (at his best) was sensational and that is something Tom still has to work on.

Another one of my Qld weaknesses, bloody loyalty.

now what what was difficult about that ... @

I don't see how you can you compare the 2? Apples and Oranges.

Is the question - Snake at his best (some years ago now) compared to Tommy T who just had his first year at FB, played injured almost the entire year and is 19?

Not comparing them Batty, it is a question of, if you had Snake in form and Turbo available for round one next year ... what positions would you play them in.

Tom every day of the week.

Can't let sentiment cloud judgement for the future. For 700k, Snake should do what is best for the team - rotate between the wing and a ball playing role. Let's be honest people - Snake is no good at running the ball back, has lost pace, and wants to protect himself. Perfect for the wing given our recent players....

Let him switch with Turbo mid gamme in attack, but give Tom the confidence by naming him as the #1

:flogger:
If Snake was in the best form of his career - compared to our Jnr TT who played injured in '16 - Snake would be fullback any day of the week.

But he won't be so it would have to be TT.... 😉

Well, to beat a dead horse :flogger:the question does specify IF Snake was fit and firing.
