When will the NRL promote the game?

Just saw this Fox Sport item and it meant to be a feel good article,
http://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/wat..._sportsmail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=crm

The Tongan RL reward a local player to join the team as a reward and encourage the local competition. What caught my eye in this article is,

"It’s something they want to make a yearly reward for the local players but due to lack of sponsorship and limited funds, it’s taken them four years before being able to pay for another player to fly over to Australia."

Where is the NRL in supporting the Southern Hemisphere teams. We suck all of the good players out of these comps and they have to put something back. Why isn't the NRL funding this trip? Why only one player invited? Why not 3? Why,why, why?

Why indeed.

I just read that the aussies pay the nz players when it comes to tests as even the kiwi's don't have the funds.

But if they get a billion dollar tv deal then some should be set aside for this. Plus efforts into growing the game and getting money into these smaller nations.

Rather than do ****ing dumbass things like pay richardson 750k for 1 years work that no one paid any attn too.

Because they don't know their arse from their elbow.
Of that I am convinced.
I looked at John grant loitering on the podium on Friday night like the senile uncle at an engagement party and was genuinely embarrassed.
And greenturd talks but nothing else.
I could go on but I find it depressing.

So I read in todays Tele, a trial for Lebanon to be played at Port Macquarie because Lebanon cannot afford to pay the insurance to cover the NRL players selected. The NRL rejected to help. Might not be big game on the NRL's calendar but let's not promote the game in the bush. Missed opportunity in keeping the interest of the game. Especially when this Lebanon team could have players like Farah, Moses, Mannah and Lichaa from NRL level playing and giving lower grade players the opportunity to play with/against some of this experience.

This is nothing new imo. Superleague or Rfl, have clubs 2 clubs from france, 2 from wales and Canada.
In past had Russia teams in challenge cup.
They know importance of growing game, nrl only care about origin.

To be fair to the NRL, why you ask?, the recent test weekend showed that we have a great interest in rep footy especially when there were about 10 matches on the weekend involving players from all clubs and an English team. I am aware some of these matches were run by the NSWRL but it is all footy.
The NRL footed the bill to put on the Pacific teams, they say, costing $100,000 for each team (?). Not sure if this is each team or in total. Where they let themselves down is going a little further and helping the grassroots. To do that you have to help at the bottom not from the top. A match in Port Macquarie would keep the game in the forefront of the locals. We will struggle to get a result of the match if/when it happens but the result for the locals will be massive in many ways. Probably helping the local club who will run the canteen and in turn raise more funds for their juniors, to having more exposure in the local press. Not hard to work out the flow on benefits.

In my opinion every club should be made to take one of their games ( and the NRL should subsidise them for lost revenue) to a regional area.

The revenue generated by the host club should stay with them, helping build the game in those areas.

Look at the recent City/Country game, almost 12,000 in attendance in Mudgee!!

On this basis the NRL would take games to places like, Dubbo, Coffs, Wagga, Albury, Tamworth, in fact anywhere that has a suitable ground.

Play it in the day, thus avoiding the need for the clubs to provide lighting.

But of course TV own the game so they would put the dampers on that big time!!

League will continue to go backwards while it is run by the current regime.
Grant is an invalid grandfather who takes more maintenance to keep alive than to let go.
He is completely disinterested.
And greenturd......
Any man that can convince himself that his bullsh*t isn't bullsh*t has a talent but it doesn't benefit the game.
They are out of their depth.

This NRL is merely a disguised News SuperLeague operation that has no interests in the game other than what they can put on 9 and Foxtel. Look at the debacles in the game. They cant get the salary cap issue worked out after promising more than they'll now offer. They are closing the door on country Rugby League. They dilly dally away with the expansion issue esp Perth and a second Brisbane side (We cant upset our favoured Bronks can we). The salary cap/TPA issue is a joke...bring on a draft. They make rules for one club and different rules for another. They are reactionary, not addressing issues before they come but only after they have damaged the game. The drug checks are a joke. They cant seem to work out an equitable means of dealing with juniors. The costs for kids to play the game are exorbitant, while Aussie Rules often pays for equipment, outfits, boots, registration etc. They dont effectively promote the game. They attempt to close the door on suburban Rugby League. Their initiatives with on the field game are often poor half measures such as the bunker refs. They seem to have no idea while Aussie Rules goes ahead leaps and bounds

But check out the wasted money on corporate cars accessories etc. Fat cats who need the big boot big time

.....while bush footy is dying and, for instance, the NRL continue to pump millions into a team like Melbourne, just so we can have a "national" competition.
And in the mean time the Storm have produced something like 2 juniors from Victoria over the last 20 odd years and every NRL has a number of players from regional NSW and QLD every year.

Big picture continues to get smaller.

My Grandsons play junior League in my old home town of Moree.

They pay for everything, help from the NRL........zilch.

As opposed to AFL, which is pouring money into Ozkick in the same town ( consequently the town now has an AFL side in the north west competition), of course sponsored by the NAB.

And also compare to Junior Cricket, which provides a kit to each child for two years, and a cricket kit for juniors to each team ( sponsored by the CBA).

Each year the NRL send a couple of players into an area to visit towns ( last year Moree had Jamie Lyon), that's about the extent of it.

League is contracting massively in the bush,in a few years possibly dead.

And meanwhile the fat cats continue to earn their million dollar pay packets and bow and scrape to Nein & Fox.

What has happened to the plan for every NRL club to have a 'sister' arrangement in rural areas where they visit regularly and help promote the sport?

Just saw an ad on Fox showing the hit Marty put on Matagi with the slogan 'More' hmm i'm confised, 'illegal' hit according to NRL but Fox wanting more... hypocrisy, double standards whatever you want to call it
