what about the backs

Dylan walker is proving to be a really difficult customer to contain. He is so much better than i thought he was from watching about 4 souths games, all against manly. Screw souths

My concern though is how poorly he is used. Probably 90% of his touches are from dummy half. The rest is in the opposition 20, 3 passes wide when the defence is in his face. Rarely does or backline get the ball anywhere else.

It may be the plan to assist completion rates but would love to see him with some time to do what he can. Kellys step was also underutilised as he always had to use it in Traffic rather than line the opposition up

I would love to see walker sneak into the inside out plays with the tubos using tommy as a decoy. Or get him sniffing around kapow. Sounds a bit weird doesnt it , but in footy terms its cool

So is it the game plan only to use him as a battering ram in our territory or are our playmakers not getting the ball out there. He seems to have some confidence , i cant imagine he isnt out wide calling for the ball

Occasionally he does move to the middle but it also allows the defence to compress so you cannot do it often.

Given a largely inexperienced and new squad, I think Baz had the tactics of no frills getting out of our half, percentage type football approach ... then attack like fuk in their red zone.

I believe our structures and tactics will evolve and grow in pace with the squads capabilities.

Walkers ability to hit that under's line, has perfect timing and is based on 100% commitment...knowing you can cop a whack from that outside defender at full speed...his timing, acceleration and under estimated strength are top shelf....
Another thing is his ability to beat his man with an in and away with early ball....an option probably not used enough....
