Cows - 50 - 18
Broncos 50 - 6
All against bottom half the comp teams, but here are the facts -
Doubtful any of these are Top 8 challengers, though Cows and Titans fans will probably disagree.
These 4 (50 point club members), have had close contests, even Wins over Top 6 sides.
You can't help who you play and to be motivated against the lessor teams - is a great sign of Attitude.
Manly have put on 50+ in 4 of their last 6 games.
Have also piled on 36 - 40 points in a few other games against more (fancied) opposition.
The way this attacking juggernaut is building it is becoming apparent scoring points won't be a problem....keeping the opposition scoreline in check will be the key....

I think across the game points record will tumble with regularity for a while yet.
While it's us doing the damage I love it.

I wonder if any team has done it 4weeks in a row? Now we have some extra motivation to thump the Vikings, the Tits put 44 on them at their place, we smashed the Tits, just the win will satisfy me but hey another 50, another record and all that, how good is life when the Eagles are soaring

No one has ever scored 50+ four games in a row.

Per the link below the teams who have 4 or 6 wins of 50+ in a season were not in a row, including the 1935 Roosters if you give them four points for tries.

Most 50+ scores in a season
6 - SYD (1935)
4 - CAN (1995), BRI (1996), PAR (2005), MAN (2021*)
3 - NOR (1995), BRI (1998), SYD (1998), NEW (2001), MEL (2001), NEW (2002), CBY (2003), CBY (2004), CAN (2008), CAN (2016), MEL (2021*)

In recent years it was exactly these type of games that we would be expected to win and were upset in.

So the most impressive thing about these wins for me is not the margins but that Des appears to have drilled the complacency out of the players.
I agree! It's hard to imagine anything stopping the momentum the team has right now. We're certainly going to the finals, the whole squad will be tremendously motivated, and all the more so because of the tough start we had.

As i have stated many times before, improve the attack and go forward sets and it takes pressure off the defence along with keeps us fresh enough to absorb and read attack better.(also having added motivation that if we defend hard over long periods we have the points in us to reward the effort)

Some observers (and partly correct) suggest the new rules and speed of play is a contributing factor to the high scores and yes there is some fact in this but that too is an over simplified observation.

Many of Manly's tries are coming off the next set of six off a kick off or resumption of play after a stoppage---you can't blame the speed of the game when the defending side has had time to regroup and recover.

The teams that have speed, power and a variety of attacking options with structure and adlib ability are able to control possession and build momentum.

This is why i was harping on last year and this year that retaining or having AFB and Fainu in a squad was not going to rectify the deeper issues with Manly's poor performances last year or early this year---it was not the reasons to our very poor form.

I still see issues in parts of our game in relation to being able to go with the grind when things don't go Manly's way but we have shown we can do it also.

So much attacking options from ball playing structure, to adlibbing, to power play options in the Manly squad at the moment that can damage any opposition--fitness wise i don't think we are at the level of a Storm or full strength Panthers though---- but it is still nice to know that "on our day" we can beat such teams if it is not so much a grind set for set game.

Well done to Des and the boys for turning it all around----i do think Tom receives too much credit (yes he played a big part) but it is overstated at times and taking away from the efforts of others.

Just posting this 50+ link for fun I guess. An easy 15 mins of highlights from 1983 as Manly beat Norths by 50+ at sunny Brookie arvo. This was just 3 days after Manly won the KB Cup. Mike Gibson at the end says something like "I'd hate to think what Manly would've done if they were fresh."

Highlights are many, most notably the Eadie set up 'soccer style' try (7m 50s) as well as some classic Phil Blake moves.

Also worth watching for the classic KB ad. I feel like a cold gold right now!

Sweet old school footy - these players Cleal, Blake, Close will be favourite Seaeagles for all time...

Man, that was an absolutely stacked Manly team. Although I do hate being reminded that John Ribot was a Sea Eagle, and that he was pretty bloody good as well.

Both wingers - Ribot was a powerful winger and the other side was Boustrad - a flashy flyer.....problem was Eels had Groth who was a combination of both these blokes and could win a game on his own....very rare for wingers those days ...

As a kid I was at the Penrith game 1973 (70 -7) game, and I took my own kids to the Dragons game in 1994 (61- 0)...... so sad there was no one there to remember 'being there ' on Saturday

That St George game I worked at Cronulla leagues at the time as a junior and knew Nathan Brown at the time, he was in total shock and was commenting Ian Roberts was throwing the ball blindly and everything turned to Gold - as the score line showed.
