We were due a loss

Snake

Snake's Alive!
We had to lose a game sooner or later; we haven't been beaten in over two months. We were due a loss and we've proven that we can "get up" for games when it matters most; Sharks, Roosters, etc.

We got beaten in the forwards tonight but when you do that much tackling, you are bound to lose a bit of go-forward. I do think the Wright/Taufua argument has been put to sleep tonight though...we missed his tough carries early in each set tonight.

Penrith were desperate and played with a lot of enthusiasm and of course we all know about the refereeing...we showed great goal line defence and with some troops to come back next week, we should do the Tigers and continue on our way.

Despite the horror referee, Manly didn't do themselves any favours tonight.
Slow play the balls, some ineffective hitups, poor defensive line structure (particularly from kicks), poor organisation on 1st tackle hitups, and just dumb neurotic play all night. Unbelievably our forwards were outplayed. I also thought Kapow looked unmotivated.
Defense was good, but outside of Leilani Latu and Tamou this team is a bunch of lightweights and are easy to defend.
What annoyed me most is that I thought Souths gifted Manly how to beat these muppets last Sunday. Simple direct gameplan, play them tough up the middle, and ruffle their feathers. The only feathers I saw ruffled were our feathered friends. I think Barrett lost it in game planning tonight and was outcoached.
Oh well, its only one loss, and maybe the effort was there, but this should be a learning experience.

I cannot agree Penrith where Penrith crap you cannot win a game with that type of penalty count.

The refs were directed to keep Penrith's season alive tonight. It was worth too much to the NRL for them to be out of finals contention. I doubt a team in the comp could take a 12-2 penalty count at the 30 minute mark and still finish the game with equal tries scored only losing on penalties kicked. This round was "Keep Western Sydney Teams Alive" Round. Penriff get a penalty party and Parra gets to play their one game against Melbourne smack in the middle of origin as a reward for last years salary cap breaches. Fair dinkum you couldn't make this sheet up.
