Given we have tried the rookie coach angle and saved $$$ in doing so, who would like Bennett to coach us. I can’t stand him, but I reckon he could get our squad firing. He could possibly bring some up and comers from Donkeys

Bennett discarded the Knights as soon as Tinkler's cheques stopped.

Can't see him working to Manly's slim budget

Manly is going to have a much better season next season. Whoever comes is going to look good due to that. Barrett should see it out, and reap the rewards of the hard work

Just need a few more reasonably decent players to replace those that are leaving ( I say reasonable due to the Cap issue ) and a normal injury run and you are right.

            With or without Barrett.

A true 5/8 is a great start. Looking forward to hear who our 2nd signing is.

Without a single purchase, our forwards (8 through 17) is top 3 in the league I think, mate.

I dunno I don’t mind the current plan. Each week I feel chez is growing into the dominant role. It’s like we crippled him for years by people over calling him. He took almost every kick last night and kicked well. Walkz took enough to take the pressure off, maybe 4 or 5. He never once died with the ball on fourth which is a real pet peeve of mine. Great passing to put Tom on the outside of his player several times too. Really hard ball to throw

He had 71 handles of the ball which was the most by a fair way. Fainu was second with 58. Which is normal for a hooker to have the most touches.

I think these last couple of games are a good test case. Bit of consistency in the team and see what we can do. Dylan is getting much better as a foil

              Hodko is a true 5/8.........correct !
I remember most on the forum jumping for joy when Hodko was signed .
The obvious red flag why we shouldn't have signed him was he couldn't make 1st grade with the Sharks.(He didn't get a start last week either ..wonder why)
Suddenly we're interested in LG along the same lines..??
We now have 3 specialist 5/8s on the books.......what a waste of cap !!
We need a centre and winger period

He actually played a few games at the start of the season with the Sharks and most reports say he was solid at 5/8.

I'm not saying he is the "messiah" but as a backup only, all good.

I'd take him him on a 2 year deal.

He will bring at least 2 players other than Boyd with him. He always does.

Might be just what this club needs.

Has he any 5/8 experiance ?
Or would he need training ? .....has good attacking and evasive skills, defencive skills needs work
I wouldn't mind seeing him have a go.

He’s the only non manly coach I would have.

But I’ve made it clear who I believe should be coach in 2019

Why would any high profile or successfull coach come to Manly, given the financial constraints and the resources the club has?Only coaches that will want to come to Manly would be other clubs rejects like Neil Henry and rookie coaches looking for an opportunity like Barrett did

                        Consensus is as I suspected.
Bennett is a prickly type, but he is a very good tactician.
I guess I raised the question because The Manly club seems to be at a real crossroads. The time has come for stability.
Bennett is capable of sorting this club out and would improve the current squad through experience.
                        We could do worse

Barrett was desperate for a chance. He was only using Manly as a stepping stone anyway (in my opinion)
As Zorba said, when he let Green go thinking we were getting Pearce, and then that didn’t happen. It buggered our whole season. It was a very poor decision.

He’d want $1 million a year and there’s no way known our cheapskate owners will pay that.

He would fix our defence though. Once we learn how to tackle, we’ll be a top 8 team at least.
