Some gloom and doom merchants on this forum need a reality check. To get in the top eight you just need to win 13 matches - that's one more than 50/50. To get in the top four you'd probably need to win 15 matches, which means you can lose 10. This comp is so even that any team in the top 8 will have a realistic shot at the title, they just need a good run with (lack of) injuries.
I don;t think there is such a thing as an upset in this comp; we must get used to seeing every match being close to an even contest.
Which brings me to Manly. I'm much more confident now than I was at the start of the season that we will be premiership contenders. We've had 4-5 'nobodies' step up and become 'somebodies', underlining our much doubted depth.
Against Souths we played well. I've not seen a South team play that consistently for seasons.
This comp will be won by a team which has few injury disruptions. Given luck, that can be the mighty Manly.

Agree. Souths could not, and probably won't play any better than they did last night. We definately have some improvement in us, especially if we have all players on deck.

Very astute post BH.
Your very important and crucial point is this. And it gets forgotten.
"This comp will be won by the team that gets the fewest injuries."
Thats why we won the comp in 2008.
Same rule applies this season.
Spot on.
