They have just signed former NRL star Fuifui Moimoi and announced a landmark broadcast television deal that will see them promoted across the UK and that is just the beginning of Toronto Wolfpack's ambitious plan to take the rugby league world by storm.

Canada's first professional rugby league team will start their inaugural season in the UK's third division in 2017, but they don't plan on being down there long.

How will they finance all the international flights between Canada and the UK?
I can't see them drawing much of a crowd. The TV rights must be substantial.
I've been to Rogers Stadium to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play baseball; what a stadium! Even has a hotel attached where you can book a room and watch the match from your bedroom . . . which caused some embarrassment when the TV cameras panned there during a lull in play.
I guess they won't allow RL to be played there?

Butt loads of money. There are many wealthy people outside of Australia. I mean some can even afford steak twice a week!

+ broadcast deal money
+sponsor money

+ It's like a 6 hour flight from Toronto to England.

+ The 10,000km round journey will be made easier for the players on either side of the divide with home and away matches scheduled in small blocks.

PLUS Good old Canadian can do attitude!

No RL at rogers. It'll probably be Lamport as the article says. Crowds to hopefully be about 8000 to start off with.

I'll tell Eric you're a bit sceptical (fair enough) but I feel he'll keep going with it!

Just don't tell @globaleagle he will claim hat was the creative director.

I should've said good ole Aussie can do attitude as the owner is David Argyle the mining guy.

Also that Eric Perez used to host a footy show which was basically him walking around some dumpy looking streets introducing basically the nrl and esl's weekly wrap up shows. I had no idea he was going to pop up as the ceo!

Anyway...that was me pushing the bin full of rubbish! Hat ended up on the cutting floor.

Canadian team Toronto Wolfpack to enter rugby league's third tier next season and will pay all expenses for British teams flying to away games

Get him to do another one!

That's a promo for a 3rd division team ... fmd, it is better than anything Manly has done and we are in the world's premier comp!

Sent it to our media manager as a hint.
Or just look at what the Raiders have done in the recent past. And they're only a few hours away down the Highway.

People think the CoCo Joy era was a shemozzle but that video clearly shows it's up with our greatest moments ever!

I think the good mayor of toronto may not realize that there are two rugbys

Well, so far they are 5 wins from 5 games.

Most are thumpings.

The hard part is that they are full time professionals playing against semi professionals which is causing some criticism.

But if they were put into the second tier straight away, that would have been complained about a lot as well.

They are yet to travel to England so this will come soon enough.

The Toronto Wolfpack have clinched the League One title with a 26-2 victory over the Barrow Raiders in their inaugural season. The win also means promotion to the Kingstone Press Championship, the second division in English rugby league.

At the full-time hooter the Wolfpack were given a standing ovation from the 7,972 supporters at Lamport Stadium ahead of the trophy presentation at centre field.
