Specialists" have proven to be the NRL's leading team over the past decade.

Sitting at the top of the NRL ladder on 34 points ahead of Friday's round 24 match with Parramatta, Manly have qualified for the finals three weeks out.

Now it is just a matter of where they finish, as they zero in on a vital top two finish, and a home final in weeks one of the playoffs.

"I think it is indicative of the club here and its history, there is a deep history here at the club of finals football," Toovey said.

"It is a tribute to the players we have here and the longevity of some of those players and the culture of the club in genera.l

"From the 70s to the present day we have always been a very competitive team and those great players pass on that culture from one generation to the next."

Manly have featured in four of the last seven grand finals, winning two.

The last time the Sea Eagles didn't feature in September action was when they finished 13th in 2004.

That was the last year of nine straight seasons in the finals for one of modern rugby league's other most successful sides the Sydney Roosters.

Melbourne have featured in all but the 2010 finals series but several of those appearances were illegitimate due to wide-ranging rorting of the salary cap.

1997 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles were Minor Premiers - why don't the Media invest in fact checkers anymore

Thought they might be referring to the Club Championships, but that would be 1988?

Are we leading with the Club as a whole?

Amen!

I know the focus is winning the GF but i get the feeling Toovey wants the MP baaad; something DESpicable never achieved.

LETS GO MANLY LETS GO!!

Melbourne cheats shouldn't even get a mention.

Surrender the 2007 GF.

Also even P/matta should be given the grand final they played as well.

it must hurt to type that!

This is truly a remarkable achievement in the salary cap era. Good to see it getting some kind of acknowledgement.

For me at the start of the season the hope is to make the first week of the semis, and everything after that is a wonderful wonderful bonus. And what's great this year is we'll at least make week 2!

Those who have been in charge of recruitment and retention need a big pat on the back. To firstly get the 2 BKs (Kite and Kennedy), and then have Snake, Choc, Kingy, Beaver and Monaghan around them was a great start. To the slowly bring in Orford and Bell and then Killer and then Perry. And all the time having more lesser names coming ie Glenn Hall, Robbo, Mark Bryant etc who did a fantastic job.

To then bring along the young guns in DCE and Foz (and more), and all the time cultivating this core group...........the last 10 years has been amazing. In the aftermath of the Nth Eagles debacle I wondered if we'd ever see Semis again, or if we would survive at all!

That's a home final at Allianz or ANZ?:(

Yeah sick joke that is.

How lucky are we that we chose Manly as our team.

Whether it was chosen because of family ties, locality or just because it had a beachy name, we can all be grateful that Manly is a successful club.

Imagine if you chose ... let's say.. Souffs. Last premiership was in black & white tv days. Or St George - have to rent a top coach to get one win.

Perhaps we're too flippant with our many wins in this century. Top 8 ? Yeah ... count Manly in - they'll be there!

We salute the Club's many - the past players, coaches, administrators as well as our current batch.
