This media needs replacing - do they "watch" the game....Tom T has leapfrogged Teddy clearly in 2021 as not just best FB, but Best player in the World....any fan from any team across the NRL would know this and be confused as to "what" Tom needs to do to be ranked the best FB....same old so hope Tom can somehow improve in 2022 and maybe get ranked 3 next time @

With the NRL season getting underway in March, it’s only fair to examine which players in their preferred positions stand out as ones to watch.
We start by ranking the five best fullbacks…

5. Clint Gutherson
Not your flashy, electric-heeled fullback as those above, but Gutherson is still an incredible number one. He made the NSW Blues squad and was the focal point of everything the Eels did well in 2021. Forever leading from the front, Gutherson will be looking for more consistency to help his Eels side go one further in the finals in 2022.

4. Kalyn Ponga

Next up is Newcastle star Kalyn Ponga. Tipped for huge things, the 22-year-old is already one of the most exciting players to watch Down Under with his wicked step and knowledge of the game staggering for such a young gun. He has been linked with a move away – most notably The Dolphins – but don’t be surprised to see Ponga sign a long-term deal and become captain.
3. Ryan Papenhuyzen
With the retirement of Billy Slater, Storm had a more than adequate replacement already waiting in the wings with Papenhuyzen. A fullback that can destroy defences has always been one of Melbourne’s strong points and the fleet-footed number one is no different. Would be number one if not for that mullet.

2. Tom Trbojevic
It was a toss up between Tom Trbojevic and James Tedesco for the number one spot but given the latter’s current longevity, I had to go with ‘Teddy’. Trbojevic is, however, arguably more important to Manly than Tedesco is for Sydney which makes his spot at number two assured. His performances in 2021 somehow went up a gear so don’t be surprised if he wins the Dally M Medal in 2022.

1. James Tedesco
Who else but ‘Teddy’ to be the first on this list? A superstar at 29 years old, Tedesco is one of the greatest fullbacks to have ever played in the NRL. Of course, that’s an extremely difficult thing to say with the likes of Billy Slater and Darren Lockyer in the not-so-distant-past, but the Sydney Rooster is currently in a league of his own.

Haha, which one is it???

I know right.....aaaah it's soooo close but I'll aim for my Teddy bear in a Landslide decision @:D

For me what Turbo can do on the field blows Tabasco off the field but hopefully his form continues and can get us our 9th premiership.

Really, who cares about the random opinions of others? 😊

If a Blues or Australian side was selected today, Teddy would be fullback with Turbo in the centres.

However, if given the hypothetical opportunity, every club (except maybe the Storm & Roosters) would jump at having Turbo as their fullback.

Teddys best days are over and Tom the Eagle is on the Rise

Long Live the King of all fullbacks Tom Turbo

Take these articles with a grain of salt.

Idiot even finishes with " won't be surprised if Tom wins Daly M player of the year in 2022"

Isn't Daly M awarded to the best player in the game 🤔

I know Braith, Ennis and Benji arent huge guys but god Tom looked like a giant standing next to them

Some of Toms tries last season were robust power runs straight through the middle - with good delivery would be almost impossible at full pace to stop for a flat footed defender

Exactly mate, best player in the game, not best fullback who’s big Teddy!!!!! My god what a disgrace of an article.

Tom has much bigger upside than Tedesco.

Teddy is a determined guy, but determination can only take you so far when you have someone with the physique and brain combo Turbo has as an alternative.

Teddy was once injury-prone if anyone cares to remember. He overcame it. Teddy is a great 'Leader' - no arguments. However Tom is equally as influential in backline organisation, and is developing into quite the backline general, ordering the troops into position and organising defensive lines. Watch him excel in that this coming year.

Turbo's only real question mark is injury concerns. If he likewise overcomes that as Teddy did, does anyone truly think Tom won't surpass Teddy's potential?

I like Tedesco, a lot. But Tom is a different calibre of athlete, starting and finishing with his size and speed. And that is not just coz Manly is my team. He'll not only repeat last year's efforts - if he stays on the field he'll do that consistently for a few years now I feel. There will be no other name in the same conversation.

Can’t take this story serious when he says papenhuyzen would be #1 if it wasn’t for his mullet 🙄
Tommy Dally M player and fullback of the year makes him #1 simples
Probably the Melbourne effect.

You know, a conga line of slurping journos figuratively lending Bellamy, and all things Melbourne, their respective laughing gear and swinging off his/Melbourne’s phallybone/s.
