I just went and re watched our 2008 season review DVD.

Man you forget what attacking skills we had in this side and what a season from the club.

The current day squad is so not even close to this side and shows that we are probably at least 3 years away from being a serious threat.

If you want something to watch and have an hour or 2 free re watch these highlights.

We were so dominant in that finals series. Never has a team been that far ahead of the opposition in a finals campaign, and probably never will be again.

I reckon that we can do a Panthers next season. We have so much potential, a lot hinges on our big guns staying injury free but I expect a huge season next year
Yeah it's possible.
I just think back to last years finals. Despite key players missing we belted the Sharks and then probably should have beaten the Bunnies, it took a certain controversial sin-binning to put paid to that effort.
Bunnies then went on to lose a very close game to the Raiders, who then went on to lose an extremely close grand final.
We are off the pace but not impossible to catch up quickly I think.

We have a ways to go i recon... too many lazy players currently in this squad..

Ide love to see us go after a goal kicker... not dce, not a winger that kicks 60/70%, but a legitimate goal kicker....
So sick and tired of manly being 12 0 on the board, which looks great on paper, until you realise its 3 unconverted trys and the minute the opponents score they are right back in the contest at 12-6..
Has been a major flaw in our team for years now and needs to be addressed... we can't keep losing games by 6 or less when we've usually scored equal or more tries but have no conversions..

i was reminded of that in the highlights Jamie Lyon was our last legitimate goal kicker.

also agree we have too many lazy players currently, I think after 2021 we will have another purge and see those players cut.

Have to get our defence in order first . Quite sure if Tom can play virtually all or a majority of games at the back , apart from his all round value , should be able to cover and defuse opposition's kicks through the line where many tries were conceded this season . Hopefully Garrick can lift his game in defence and utilize his speed better in kick recovery and maybe young Hoppa [ if staying ] can hopefully do the same as a winger . Inclusion of Haumole and Garner will also hopefully provide some more mobility and ruck speed in defence and attack and especially taking the new rules into account .

Injuries and the Cust/Foran experiment will determine our season. If we keep our best players on the park we will be somewhere between 6-9. If the Cust/Foran experiment goes well and Masase returns at the back-end we will be between 4-6. If we add a couple of quality signings in addition to all of the above then we might be right up there in the thick of it.

No revelations in the above, just reality.

I think the Sharks will drop out next year and the Knights might also drop out. I also believe Parra will go backwards and be in the 6-9 battle.

I think it will be us and the Titans that will move into the 8. The Warriors will go backwards with Brown and the Tigers will be about the same again which will see Madge moved on. The Cowboys will be the interesting one to watch. Payten will really improve them, while the Broncos will lift but just miss the 8.

Nothing better to take away the disappointment of missing out in the finals than watching our Glorious premiership wins and the great competitive players that made our club great

I look at the injuries that we have had this season as great OPPORTUNITIES for the players that came in to show what they are made of as tough times makes or break a character
Some characters have the ability to rise above adversity and others capitulate under pressure .

Let our rebuild begin .....This is what we need to strive for .
The new game is more faster and dynamic now and the teams with the most resilient and brilliant squads devour their inferior opponents .

Man i miss Mr Jamie Lyon.. best centre I've ever seen play.
I honestly believe we need someone like Jarrod Croker.. plays with 100% passion 100% of the time, is a top notch goal kicker and knows how to score a try or 2... you don't get his career stats being lazy...

Remember 2018 when DCE was our main kicker.....78.3% for the season & kicking well until Garrick took over early 2019. When he concentrates & knows that the goal kicking is his responsibility he kicks very well!
Also I’m tipping us to be top 4 as long as injuries don’t cruel our season again. AFB is a loss but Paseka will step up. The loss of Waddell, Thompson etc. will not affect us as with the inclusion of Olakau’atu & possibly Garner I feel we’ll be better off. Foran will bring stability into our attack & allow DCE more breathing space. Hopefully Walkz back to Centre with Suli....if not Fainu then Cust should suffice & share Hooking duties with Foran, until he’s back. A backline including Trbo, Walker, Suli, Schuster, DCE with Funa & Garrick? is a pretty fvcking good! Forwards we have the smarts with Taupau, Jake & Siro who will be complimented by our mobile units in Paseka, Olakau’atu, Garner, Gosiewski maybe Toupanoua, Davey. With a couple of astute signings, luck with injury & a surprise assistant coach we are gonna be right up there! This season was derailed with injuries at various times to many players & inexperienced youngsters. A good preseason & confidence boost will give us a good kick start! Once we get on a roll then we’re gonna be hard to stop. I’m more confident about 2021than I have been for a long time.
