They were Hungrier

Footy is a funny game where in a week, plenty can change.
NZ had intent not shown all seasons and Manly were looking flustered.
Yes NZ used spoiling tactics and could have copped 20 more penalties, but Manly failed to adapt.
There seemed no plan B after not unlocking the middle and went to a sideways style often looking lost.
I still felt the back end of both halves they would have unlocked that middle with persistence and better kicking options.
The NZ edge rushed created drops and bad decisions, but Manly did not add depth to counter the rush defence and the kicks that went in behind, were on but lacked execution- maybe DCE on tackle 1 was dodgy, but all be hailing it genius if we scored....
Manly have been up for some big wins in recent weeks and keeping it real, NZ won that game on completing harder on the night, the little efforts on every play....refs, bad luck and all those things contribute, but tonight the hungriest team won

I've never see the Worriers play so well for 65 minutes.
Their defence was epic.
I was waiting for them to tire but it was only when they were reduced to 12 men did they resemble the normal Worriers rabble.
We didn't deserve to win.
We got ahead of ourselves, especially many posters on here who predicted we'd win by a cricket score.

They were embarrassed last week and booed off the ground at half time.

That's gotta hurt so not a surprise they came out firing.

Title of post is correct. The fact that a team with nothing to play for this season (which we had beaten 14 of last 16) was hungrier than a team playing for top 4 is a concern.
I feared it would be the week injuries returned. Loss of Scorpio is a huge blow, all jokes aside. Poor bugger just has knees that will never allow him to realise his potential.

That kick on the first from dce was the big moment. We grew impatient and were off and the kick was silly, then they scored off of the next set. The entire team felt pretty slack tonight, and that should end any top 4 hope we had.

There is still hope
Whilst there are more games to be played there is hope
Never say never
At the time I was blowing up, along with most other Manly fans....hot on attack, 1st tackle, give them 7 tackles ???
In reality, the way they were shooting up in defence after controlling a slow play ball, the kick was on if it was tackle 1,3, 4 or 6....it was just execution that was the let down, Manly scores and it was a genius play.
In perspective there was that banana grubber JUST out of DCE's grasp for a try, another when DCE burnt their winger and kicked just that fraction early and Sheck JUST gets there before Tom....yet their kicks were pinpoint and got the perfect bounce, the way I look back now - It just wasn't our night and NZ played their 1 off, annual 9/10 game.
