I went sailing once but it wasn't smooth. This caused me to feel really sea sick but I was trying not to cause controversy by having them turn the boat around 'cause I was trying to impress them. But they could see by the colour of my face - green - that I was being less than honest. But I see what you're saying here - had it been smooth sailing there would have been no controversy.
