The scouts are certainly out and about

I met a young lad yesterday who has just moved from North Queensland to play SG Ball next year for us. A very polite and nice young man, over 190cm height and probably 95+kgs and is a backrower, with huge calves (I should probably be called them heiffers), so he probably has some speed about him.

Funnily enough, he is apparently boarding with a family who are all soccer fanatics.

So the scouts are out there recruiting from far and wide and at a very young age.

So now we have a 3- 5 year plan in place? Wonder if we will have the same coach?
I don't see it as a plan, I call it smart....more a long term guarantee of a more expansive junior system to choose from.
To think Manly heirarchy are prepared to give up on this season, to put all the eggs into 2018 and onwards is garbage.
Simply comes down to money tied up on players who are doubtful to set foot on a field in 2017 or there would have been another 1-2 signings now - the plan for Manly is success today.
EVERY team attempts to build a strong nursery and has scouts searching the country for talent - that is NOT a plan....unless of course EVERY team is writing off 2017 and PLANNING for 2018 and beyond - YES - now I get it - thats the plan....

Hmmmm probably better resurrecting Jack Gibson or Ron Willey.
Satan would have them on their toes (or their heads).......
