The same old media questions

Is anyone else sick of the same media questions getting asked of the players every week?

• Something about the first four weeks of the year and how they’ve turned it around
• Something about Turbo
• Something about how many ball players we have
• Something about how weird Des is

I don’t know how these journos get paid to regurgitate the same stuff over and over again.

Pubs are closed so they can't sit around getting sloshed thinking up real questions.
I have no idea how Buzz is coping with this, one good thing is he should have saved up thousands of dollars.

I don't buy into much media stuff in general, including most news reports, and this obviously includes sport to a lessor degree, where they can't make up stories on the scorelines, only exaggerate the match reports...
There's a bonus on here at Silvertails analysis, though often bias for Manly, many subjective and different views on the game.....some crazy (read mine), but at least we often get some good thoughts and not so predictable opinions.

It is my own soapbox but the general state of the mainstream media in league is below average.

Same voices, same agenda with little to no actual analysis of the actual game. Compare this to any football (soccer), NFL etc around the world .

My only assumption is that there is no mass market for it which is why it is not happening.

The questions are being asked by media rookies. I'll wager that none of them are over 25 years old and are still learning the trade. I for one, would have liked to ask Kapow:

1. How has the role of a prop changed over the years?
2. Have you been mentoring the young front rowers at the club?
3. Who, in seasons to come, will be the forward leaders of the club?

Last night did you see on NRL180 (I normally can only stomach half of it now), Paul Kent was lecturing the panel on how its so hard to handle the bombs these days, how they swirl around etc...How the f#ck would he know, he is a f#cking reporter not a current "legend of the game" like he thinks he is.

Funny you mention Rothtool. I was working as a sub-editor on The Australian in 1978-79. We shared the floor with the Telegraph. This curly-head copyboy from the Tele would often come around and he was the butt of jokes. They nicknamed him 'Buzz' because he was a pest as in 'Buzz off'. I'm as surprised as anyone that he went on to achieve anything.
Co-incidentally, at that time our copyboy was 'Lardy', Greg Prichard who was a lot smarter and funnier than Buzz. I know Lardy went on to become a good sports journalist but I haven't seen his byline in years.
