The Ox's box of tricks

The Ox's box of tricks

When the Ox arrives in Manly with his box of tricks for Dessie.

What would you hope is in there?

The Ox's box of tricks

a straight line
a book that is called "how not to make crop circles on a footy field"

......and the dozen other things we usually say about monas!

Hopefully in his box he will have to the Andrew johns book on how to be a half back.

Manly need to him to take control of games particularly against the top teams. Someone to lead the team around especially in attack and use decoy runners, second man plays etc and put pressure on oppostion defensive lines.

Speed of the mark when he decides to take on the line himself.

And also when our props get tired to be able to make hit ups as well.

another attacking option. I remember hearing that we were a deadly team in teh red zone (at least early in the year) but had scored the least amount of long range tries. I would like some variety in attack

Some repeat sets would be tops.

Grubber kicks that actually finish in goal. to give a chance for a try or force the defending team to do a line drop out.

The Ox's box of tricks

We have all seen & know that Ox has a pretty large bag of tricks:-

- He has a great passing game to both sides of the ruck (something we sorely missed this season).
- He is ruthless close to the line, and for some reason can always manage to barge his way over.
- He isn't prone to injury.
- His skills are second to none.
- He is a talker - even during the play.
- He can kick goals.
- He is a VERY solid defender for a 1/2 back.
- He already has combinations with Bell.
- He will minimise Monaghans requirements. That's not a criticism, because I think Monaghan is RUTHLESS when he focuses on one side of the ruck. Watch Canberra game for example. Cliff Lyons was totally true about this fact.
- He has the best short passing game in the competition.
- He has a winning culture.
- He is an outright professional.
- He has the "freakish" part to his game - X factor.
- He knows exactly when to pass the ball to his forwards to get them over the ad line.
- He is used to large wingers (King) - so Steppa will be good with him in this position.
- He will add another leader to the team.
- Realistically he has 6 years left in him (Until 33).
- He has the second best kicking game in the NRL.
- He has a player very similar to Billy Slater at our back, and I'd say this will be utilised.
- He has the ability to get the best of those around him.
- He creates diversity in attack.
- He will bring in positive and professional ideas that Melbourne use.
- He adds stability.
- He doesn't get over awed in both good & bad times.
- BK can better focus on HIS game, rather than having to inspire.
- A true champion.

And that's in the side pocket of the case.

Guess who's poster is already up on Ryan's wall! 🙂
Hopefully he will provide at least half that and the Premiership is in the bag. $21 at the bookies for 2006.
