Except for Phil Rothfield, Dean Ritchie and maybe Todd Greenberg!

I remember Roy Masters writing a column about the 1989 shafting of Alan Thompson, which had eerie similarities to this lamentable imbroglio. The big difference was that the Lowe experiment brought about a quick turnaround in the team's fortunes. But perhaps only because he wasn't being white anted like Toovey was, from within.

At the time Masters referred to Thommo as being regarded as the 'manliest of Manly men', or words to that effect.

I think Roy would happily add Geoff Toovey to that shortlist.

At least Graham Lowe had a good coaching record behind him before joining Manly. BRL premierships, Kiwi coach, Wigan coach. Barrett's only real coaching experience was when took the Panthers U/20's from the finals to 9th place.
