The Impact is Amazing...

The speed of the ruck and play balls go up 70% once Fainu comes onto the field.
This is far from a bag Api thread, I rate him as a tenacious and decent footy player.
More how much impact and energy Fainu does bring, especially for a young kid.
The players around him also increase with energy and speed as he springs out bringing them onto the ball and for a small body, he takes stopping by at times 2-3 big middle defenders.
This combination with Tom T in years to come will imo, be the best 1-2 attack in the game by a long way, especially on the back of decent play balls, when the referee can maybe not allow the defenders to have a muffin and a coffee on the tackled player...
The modern game is all about winning this key area and the recipe, if Manly can maintain these players long term is a long period of success and a good shot at 2+ premierships over the next 5 years

Wheel chair rugby league

Read on .....

Same with our direction , game management and predictability we have with Walker at 5/8

Hooker and 5/8 are key spine positions

With out competent players in those positions we are pedestrian

Tom is also another 5/8 option too as well, as he chimes in on both sides of the backline and is the link that is so important.

Take Tedesco out of roosters and they are predictable.

Our best games how come when we are at full strength and are based on a power game up the middle. Off loads and quick play the balls enable Faniu and Tom to run from dummy half creating plenty of scoring chances and DCE can then play his natural attacking running game. Walker also just has to concentrate on running or giving nice ball to his outside backs.

All comes from hooker. With Api, just hasn't been great at all, have missed Tom not only in the back line but his runs from hooker, and walker is touching the ball too many times during the set.

When DCE, Tom and Faniu are on and full strength pack, we can compete with any top 4 side.

He has been a good servant of the Club. I can understand why other clubs were interested.

You're on the money Terry.

I understand that Api doesn't pose the same attacking threat that Manase does.
But his defence in the middle is top notch. The stuff he does is the stuff that goes unnoticed all too often. But as soon as he's not there, you notice soon enough.

I don't disagree with letting him go because there are bigger priorities for 2020. But people who think he hasn't been a real contributor to our side must have been watching different games this year.

Watching what? We were awful for three years with him at hooker. He has been here four years. The last three were diabolical and Fainu changed that this year .Absolute no control and organisation around the ruck, can’t pass and no kicking game.Tries hard but anyone thinks he can run a football side confuses effort with ability. Our team has a great forward pack and average outside backs. We must play the middle third to capitalise on that and API does not have the skill to do it. It’s not rocket science.

Winner winner!!

Been saying the same for years, never rated him that much

Slow clunky passes from hooker since day 1

Its why I laugh when people want to put Api at halfback if DCE isn't playing. If people think Cherry is lacking in organisational skills.....Api makes him look like the best in the world at it.

The fact that we haven't had to do it for any more than less than half a game this year (back when Cherry went off against Canberra, and even that didn't last long before Siro moved to 5/8) has been a blessing.

Api is a good defender, not going to deny that at all. But as a dummy half, in just over a year since Fainu's debut he has already overtaken Api and is leaving him behind.

It’s not so much a knock on API , more his suitability for our team. With a star studded expansive backline like the roosters he could do a job by simply feeding Cronk the ball and tackling the house down. With a side like ours who has to play to our strengths in the middle and be creative around the ruck he doesn’t have the skills required.

Agree with all that mate but I can tell you he ain’t a small body. Stood next to him at Brookie mid year. The kid is big and really strong in the hips and thighs.

I think it's because on the TV he looks tall & lean as compared to traditional short, nugget hookers.

He certainly has the strength to break tackles & gain poat-contact meters with defenders hanging on though, & he'll fill out more as he matures too.
