Loobs

Living in the demountable.
Is what Zorba said in his weekend column right? That a homeless person was living in the media box at Brookie? FMD that is an absolute disgrace! Warringah council have zero credibility...

But good to hear Tom Turbo is up to 100 kegs. He needed the muscle to handle the grind so looking forward to a big year...

That was Zorba they found. He had stolen all the sandwiches that was meant for Tony Abbott and Co and he was hiding away eating them. He loves that media box. Rumour has it he has his own fridge up there

Good on the homeless dude - that's a pretty decent crash pad. But the council can't really argue that they're looking after the place now...
A homeless person breaking in to find some shelter is definitely shocking front page news that we all needed to know.

Geez a lot of negative story's about Brookie getting published the last few weeks.
Pure luck I'm sure that all these articles coincide with the Penns looking for a discount or an excuse to relocate.

Big story tomorrow is that dripping tap in the men's toilet.

Bwawawawawa fmd.
Not only is Brookey a death trap, the outstanding manly management is renting the commentary boxes & dressing sheds to every homeless hobo on the peninsula !

You guys are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now aren't you.

As a matter of fact, most Parramatta supporters are actually feeling for you guys. A 32k seating world class Parramatta stadium vs a hobo backpacking lodge.

Good on you for looking out for those Manly hobo supporters anyhow boys.

The " charm offensive " is well and truly being orchestrated.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel has more in common with the Eels position for the last 35 years...

Why are they called Hobo's ,surely if its an abbreviation from homeless it should be Homo's.

Just for a bit of trivia (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobo0 -
The origin of the term is unknown. According to etymologist Anatoly Liberman, the only certain detail about its origin is the word was first noticed in American English circa 890. Liberman points out that many folk etymologies fail to answer the question: "Why did the word become widely known in California (just there) by the early Nineties (just then)?" Author Todd DePastino has suggested it may be derived from the term hoe-boy meaning "farmhand", or a greeting such as Ho, boy! Bill Bryson suggests in Made in America (998) that it could either come from the railroad greeting, "Ho, beau!" or a syllabic abbreviation of "homeward bound". It could also come from the words "homeless boy". H. L. Mencken, in his The American Language (4th ed., 97), wrote:

Tramps and hobos are commonly lumped together, but see themselves as sharply differentiated. A hobo or bo is simply a migratory laborer; he may take some longish holidays, but soon or late he returns to work. A tramp never works if it can be avoided; he simply travels. Lower than either is the bum, who neither works nor travels, save when impelled to motion by the police.

So this raises the question if the guy was a Hobo, Tramp or Bum ?

Do we need to have that discussion? Or can we be just thankful that unlike so many we have a roof over our heads?

I enjoyed that piece, thanks, but I am convinced that the brookie bloke was in fact a derro, given that Australian English is more commonly spoken in that area of NSW.
