Unbeaten Panthers hunting historic mark
The unbeaten Panthers have a number of club and NRL era records firmly in their sights when they take on the Sea eagles.
It’s easy to get blasé about the Panthers winning streak, but love them or hate them, with every passing week they seem to be setting more and more records.

This week they are aiming to start a season undefeated through eight games for the first time in club history - and to become the first team in almost a decade to do so. Storm in 2012 started the season 9-0 before going on to win the title; the only team in the NRL Era (1998-2021) with a perfect record through 8 games.
Brisbane in 2000 was undefeated through eight games (drew with Wests Tigers in the opening round) and won the comp and were also almost perfect in 2002 (7 wins one draw) before losing to the eventual Premiers the Roosters in the Prelim Final.

The Panthers have conceded just 44 points through seven games - the best by any team since the Roosters in 1996 (40 points) and one of just four teams in over 90 years (Eels 48 in 1982 and St George 40 in 1963) to have conceded less than 50 points in 7 games. St George is the only team since the 1920s to have conceded 50 or fewer points through eight games.

Half of the competition this season have conceded more points in the final 20 minutes of their matches than the Panthers have conceded in total for the season - the Panthers themselves have conceded just one try in the final 20 minutes. Penrith has conceded more than 12 points just once in its past 18 regular season games - and that was 14 against the Titans in round 11 last season.

Penrith has also failed to score 20 points just once in 16 games (12 v Storm in round 3) and has cracked 30 points nine times in 2020-21; Only Storm, Rabbitohs and Roosters have done so on more occasions.

AND they have won 22 regular season games in a row - a feat never achieved previously.

I still rate our chances though Bozo

Our Moment of Truth is the testing of our Character and Competence

Let us Rise above the Bar that the Panthers have set like the Great Manly Sea eagles that we are !!!

Yes they are the benchmark NRL team. Yes they are making and breaking records weekly. Yes they clearly deserve to be favorites to win the comp. No I don't think they beat us this weekend, AND yes that's pretty optimistic, and based on no credible evidence. Manly by one. DCE field goal. It has been written.

Yet when the pressure was on in the game that really mattered the panthers blew it. Premiership windows are a funny thing when the vultures are circling.

We can be optimistic and We do have credible evidence as our Incredible Tom has proven what he is capable of .
But this game against the Benchmark can not be won by one Incredible fullback alone . This game can only be won by an Incredible Manly Team effort .

Perspective time ..
It has been proven over the years that a team needs the experience of competing in a Grand final in order to win one and the 2021 unbeatable hungry cats are on track so far. Unless some one stops them on their tracks. We have the Great opportunity this weekend to be the Great team that does

LOL. Panthers have conceded 44 points in 7 games.
We conceded 46 against the Panthers in one game in rd4.

It will be a miracle for us to win. I will be happy if we compete well and get within 12 - 14 points.

We can't start slowly like we did against the Tigpies, can't do that with the Riff or they'll have 20 on us before we know it ..... but we can win it and I have tipped us.
Agree Tge ten minutes before half time masked a fairly ordinary first 30 against the tigers. In saying that our d has improved out of sight. We are a different team now and as Bozo said their rent is due Saturday 3pm. And we will collect!!

Can see our bubble bursting this week. Panthers are big step up in class from what we have managed to beat over the last 3 weeks. I'll be happy if the damage to our F/A is less than 20.
It was three small steps to beat the Warriors , the Titans and the Tigers
It will be One Giant leap for the Sea eagles to overcome the Panthers

This will be a Miraculous Manly win for our us
and Miracles are made from Merciless Men who have the Courage to stand up to the Panthers and shut them down Because if the Bastards cant score. The Bastards cant win

A quote from one of the greatest motivators of his time Winton Churchill
Success is never final
Failure is never fatal .
It is the Courage that counts

It's not like we beat helpless teams tho...
Titans put 42 on the knights the week before us and scored 30 against the rabbits the week after we kept them to 0.

The tigers came within an inch of beating the rabbits the week before we decimated them...
Are they on Panthers level, no, ofcourse not, but it's not like we're heading into this game having flogged useless teams like the Broncos and Bulldogs .

I tipped Manly, I think tom is the difference between us being wooden spoon contenders and top 4 material .

Panthers are ripe for the picking.. can't win them all, that's a fact

I am tipping Manly

Because there is more than 9 ways to skin a Cat

The Cats are beatable and every favourite has been beaten

It is up to us to Play Good enough to be Good enough to beat them

Well put. And there rent is due and we will collect!!! The northern beaches debt collector is knocking! lol (Luv that phrase Bozo)

My phrase has been excelled by the ending you put into it feathered friend .
Your Northern Beaches debt collector quote is a classic !!!

For Manly this game is not all about winning and losing. It's about building on the improved form we've shown since March, and taking it to a new level of intensity against the unbeaten premiership favourites.
I think we are capable of winning, but if we don't, I at least want to see a few big statements - especially, would love to see Haumole give Kikau a hard time, love to see Schu, Harper and Saab all play well, and would love to see Sipley put Fisher-Harris on his bum 🙂
