Somebody posted a couple of weeks ago that the make-up and personnel on the bench will be just as interesting as the actual starting 13 this year. I agree .... Whilst Brown is a solid versatile choice ... I think this year we have players that may simply be too good to send out to Blacktown.

For mine, if you try to cover every position you just weaken the side for an event that may never happen ... be smart but go with your best 17.

I am also a fan of the 2 props, a backrower and a halves/hooker option. A 2nd rower can cover centre.

!4. Hastings/Croker
15. Winterstein/GoJetSki
16. Perrett
17. AFB.

Hopefully the names Sipley, Tanginoa, T. Wright etc push themselves into contension.

I like the bench.

Winterstein starts or he plays at Blacktown imo (doesn't offer enough impact for my taste), so I would like to see Jack play a few in reggies and then step up if he hopefully proves good enough.

Likely to see DCE/Croker/Hastings get injured throughout the year, or one of the centres........T. Wright will get his chance, no question.

I like the bench as well . It will be great to start the new season with a fresh look and giving some young players a go .

except for Croker or Hastings who you want to replace with a bloke playing for his pension.
Some pensioners give you value for money and others are just a pain in the ass and as you requested in your post we wont mention him

Here at the EAGLES we have high standards !!!

Knowing TBaz’s mind (from last year) I still reckon he’ll pick our mate Lewie on the bench.

He won’t have two rookies in the squad of 17, so whomever loses for 5/8 between Wright / Croker / Hastings will be playing Intrust Cup!

Don’t shoot me down for saying it as I disagree with it but bet I’m close to right!

You may well be correct ... I am hoping that some of these guys stand up and force his hand.

Unless Baz has changed his tactics from last year it won't mean sxxt who really plays position 17 as they will only be playing the last 10-15 minutes of the game at dummy half unless an injury occurs. This is why he will stick with Brown no matter what we think of him and his abilities. Some of the training picks have Brown distributing the ball from dummy half so maybe that suggests he will be there, but maybe it means jack.....I personally would like to see Croker get the bench spot, but I understand why he picks Brown.Brown may not be great at any spot(even though I think he is a decent dummy half),but covering the 3/4's/dummy half and backrower means that if there was an injury the overall team structure during the game will not be messed up too much.I get your point #Woodsie about picking the best 17 but I don't think picking Croker or another forward over Brown will improve the team...You mentioned in another thread that having a servicable 5/8 instead of a high quality player will not have much impact on the side, position 17 has even less of an impact.(although I am sure the Cowboys were glad to have Morgan when Thurston was injured....)

Hi Mark I hope you and the family are coping well
In regards to our 17 .........
To go further into the finals and improve from last year we need to improve our 17 and if some of our young hopefuls cant step up above a player who is way past his best then we have little hope of improving from last season .

Spot on, you’d have to think at least one of the young boys will offer more than Hodkinson and his one good leg.

I reckon thats close, one month to go. I watched french stream rugby league and nfl just to pretend its nrl.
I get by in the next month superleague starts for reference boys

On a serious note, I'd like to trial Winterstein off the bench and see how he handles the roll. He could end up being another Trex if he is given the licence to charge at the defence.

AFB is a certainty.

Not 100% sold on Perrett. Think Sipley will be breathing down his neck.

Don't really like the idea of carrying a half on the bench. Much prefer Siro to 6 if there's an injury and go with 2 props and 2 impact forward options.

I'd go: AFB, Perrett/Sipley, Winterstein/Gosie, Tanginoa/Paseka.
Agree Batty........but i'd go AFB, Perret, Sipley, Hastings to kick off 2018 with Lane, Gosiewski, Winter & Paseka on standby. All in all we have plenty of depth & our forward pack is gonna cause quite a few problems this year. Can't believe that twat on Zero Tackle says our forward pack isn't up to scratch. What a f%&$ing moron.........
Taupau, Api, Lussick, Thompson, Sironen, Jake T.....definitely a f%&$ing moron!! Zero credibility for Zero Tackle lolol.

Got a feeling Perrett loses bench spot. Most likely-
Hastings,
Brown,
AFB,
Winterstein.
You can’t carry less than two props at least one of Perrett, Sipley or Tanginoa will be there and Perrett wins that battle pretty comfortably for mine.

Bench for me (assumes Hastings starts for goal kicking and organisation)

AFB
Perrett
Gosiewski
Brown

Not too bad mate, just got to get past today ( would have been Micks 40th birthday).

His family ( there’s gazillions of them) have all stayed in town until today for a gathering to celebrate this.

To be totally honest I’m against the whole thing as my daughter and the two boys were just starting to recover a little after last Wednesday’s funeral.

Oh well, get past today and try and start the new part of their lives.

By the way I think your bench is very close, no way Lewie won’t get a start ( for his versatility alone).

Read somewhere that Barrett may use Winterstein as a prop.
Not sure I would ,but what do I know ,those picks are what I think will happen ,I myself like the idea of getting Paseka or Sipley blooded somewhere in there.
I would get them in there over all 3 of Winterstein ,Perrett or Brown.
