The $600k problem with Matt Lodge’s Manly deal... and why the NRL is set to act

The Roosters got Lodge for the remainder of 2022 for $100k (or $20k per game) according to this article (from that masthead):

“He will earn around $100,000 for his services, after the NRL ruled he had a salary cap value of $20,000 per game, in relation to his previous Warriors contract.”

So the NRL valued him at ~$500k for the 2022 season.

Full disclosure: I could care less cause I never wanted him here anyways but…

$1K (per week?) is ridiculous for any player with NRL experience and is obviously an unacceptable precedent…

I seriously doubt any of the late season signings named were on that kind of wage but happy to be corrected if I am wrong on that…

Hey ALinda, I know right.....look tbh, this has become a common thing for us Seaeagle supporters, I just thought this time was over the top with the fact EVERY footy fan has seen this happen at other clubs the past 5 years without a hitch....then suddenly - Front page news !!!
They usually wait till we are a dominant force, but this is the boot in while we are down, so I felt the toes a little more in my ribs....
Spot on Maxta...every word is so true...

Where is our "like for like Turbo replacement"?

Isnt it Lodge? (yeah maybe that is too long a bow to draw)
