Team Persona ..

Have been pondering on the subject of exactly what sort of team Manly is .... what I mean is ... what is our persona ... who are we ...

Over the decades I have seen Manly teams known to have "soft" forwards but through brilliant backs were successful .... and I have seen Manly teams known to have hard forwards and tradesman like back lines that got the job done ... and I have seen rare eras where we had hard forwards and superstar back lines ....

We have been entertainers and we have been gutsy grind out a win teams ... but who are we now?

Our forward pack is efficient .... best word I could come up with ... can do well against most teams ... but struggle against hard packs ...

Our backline is with the exception of Turbo ... tradesmanish ... go okay if our forwards go well .... but are pedestrian and starved of good ball when they don't ... not creative or dynamic ... rather than the silky skills of a Lyon or Fulton ... we are impressed when Suli bludgeons his way through a tackle ...

Or has the game evolved to the point that the difference in playing style between a centre and a second rower has been so blurred that teams no longer have styles .... just 17 workmen doing a job ....

Good point re: creativity. Our squad is so limited by a lack of versatility and smarts.

I think you mostly need 17 doing a job with a handful of stars that can save a try or score something out of nothing or pull off a big hit when needed or make those big damaging runs.

To be honest, fully fit side we can mix it with the best (and we haven't even seen the best of our juniors) Problem is we have not ben able to keep a fully fit side on the park for years now.

I think fully fit, we have a persona that teams would worry about coming up against. Dangerous in attack with Tom, walker, DCE faniu etc and some hard hitting defence - just cant get them on the field for any extended period. Its so frustrating to watch, and its starting to show in the players. They know they have the team to be playing finals, but half are sitting on the sidelines

I think you mostly need 17 doing a job with a handful of stars that can save a try or score something out of nothing or pull off a big hit when needed or make those big damaging runs.

To be honest, fully fit side we can mix it with the best (and we haven't even seen the best of our juniors) Problem is we have not ben able to keep a fully fit side on the park for years now.

I agree that with our 1-17 fully fit, we should be top 4 and competing with the best. At full-strength we are better than Parramatta, and look at them. They are riding their luck with mass and long term injuries at the moment. Hopefully it bites them closer to the semis.

Too many low footy iq players.

Cust kicks on the 4th one minute out from half time instead of passing it making more meters then kicking.. he does a crap kick and they score with ease before half time. Thats the game right there!

Guacamole killing it all game.. last 5 mins when we had them on the ropes dce ignores the dangerous right side of suli and Guacamole and goes left for waddell who loses the ball twice.

Croker the idiot runs the ball on the last how many times. Guys got no clue and gave away stupid penalty on the 4th on half way leading to an easy try.

Slowfua is the worst winger in the nrl. He is the stupidest player I've ever seen. Low energy doesn't look interested and looks embarrassed most of the time. Sack him

Garrick. Useless just gets ragdolled every single time.. barely used like suli in attack thanks to low iq dce who was out played by a kid AGAIN this season.

I still think that Suli will keep improving ,he has pace for such a big guy, Garrick could still be of value, he's only had one year in first grade and is a handy kicker, Parker ,good defender but slow and doesn't really offer much, and about the only thing Jorge offers is when we have the ball, from either inside our 10 metres or inside the opposition 10, useless in the air.
