Hopefully Barrett kicks on this year and Manly has a great season. But if not and he gets the sack then Manly should look for a rookie NRL coach. But then Manly should only have coaches that have played for Manly so that does not leave many (if any) to choose from. Maybe Cliffy?

Cliffy took Narweena to 2 premierships in a row and from what I remember he didn't do too badly when he coached the NSW cup side for 1 year. The team placed 6th and then the following year, for some reason that escapes me, Willo took over and did not do half as good as Cliffy did.

I have some (very little) sympathy for Jason Taylor, mainly because I can't figure out how it's possible to "lose the playing group" when you never had them in the first place.

The thing about Jason Taylor is he comes off as an overly serious and very boring person. In all the years he has been involved in the game of rugby league, I have never seen even a hint of personality. I think he would be terrible to play under.

There are three kinds of coaches...

1. Those in complete control: Bennett, Hasler, Bellamy, etc.
These are the coaches who look like coaches, they mean business, they take no prisoners, and they are not the least bit scared of the media.

2. The pretenders: Taylor, McGregor, etc.
These coaches really want to succeed so badly that they take themselves too seriously and play up to the media but come off looking phony.

3. The "I don't belong here" coaches: Peter Sharp, Andrew Webster, Steve Price, etc.
If you watch the recent interview with this Andrew Webster character, you can hear his voice quiver whilst addressing the media and he cannot look a single person (including the camera) in the eye. He just has his head down the whole time and fumbles his way through the interview clutching at cliches and coming off like a scared little school boy. It must really instil some serious confidence in his players?!

The Tigers are a joke.

I think he is category two but he is a minor case because he is not too cocky or serious...maybe he will make it to category three one day? I hope! However, Des, Bellyache and Bennett have always exhibited the same persona in the media.
