Storm in crisis as players refuse to play with Brodie Croft

A storm is brewing in Melbourne which could well see the ultimate demise of the club best known for creating new ways to cheat and losing a grand final by 40 points to nil (while cheating).

Rising star Brodie Croft has reportedly had a drunken fight with Storm skipper and part time NRL referee Cameron Smith. As a result, the entire team has told Craig Bellamy they are not prepared to play with him again. That’s right, if Bellamy picks Croft the rest of the team will all retire simultaneously, each player giving up a potentially lucrative career because they think Brodie Croft is a little ****.

Bellamy has been advised by those close to him to leave the basket case that is the Storm. He’s likely to end up at the Broncos next year, if not before.

The fiasco could of course have massive implications for Manly if Storm players walk out, given the contracts of retired Storm players count against Manly’s salary cap. Manly are believed to be confident they can manage it by releasing players to clubs who have underspent, such as the Roosters, provided that only the Storm contracts the NRL know about count towards Manly’s cap.

Smith is known to be a divisive figure. He famously held discussions with the Broncos once when he was negotiating his next contract and then didn’t sign with them, instead defecting to stay with the Storm. The rumour in league circles is that he was trying to get the most amount of money possible each year under his contract(s). That’s Unaustralian. Worse - that’s Unqueenslander.

He also apparently got up Jessie Bromwich for having a bit of booger sugar after a Test match. Again, that’s Unaustralian. Unqueenslander.

There’s a rumour he went to a strip club once too, but he didn’t tip the birds and spent the entire night with some cheap looking tart called Yvonne.

The guy is a deadset prick. No wonder Cooper Cronk couldn’t hack him.

The above is my effort at how the below story would have been reported if the Storm were Manly.... thoughts?

Croft's issue with Smith

Brodie Croft’s form isn’t the only reason he is in reserve grade. The Melbourne playmaker had a falling out with Cameron Smith at around the time he was dropped. Smith unselfishly attempted to pass on tips to Croft, but it’s fair to say the youngster wasn’t overly receptive. Most other halfbacks would jump at the chance to learn from a future Immortal. He will need to improve his attitude as the man replacing him - Ryley Jacks - hasn’t lost a game since getting the call up.

Awesome @MadMarcus , though there's nothing part time about scam smith's refereeing!

Good job.

In fact, I am now going to re-read it.

Very accurate summary- give this bloke a job as it’s the first media story that isn’t Manly related....and probably closest to the facts...

It does for rugby league satire what George Kennan’s 1946 long telegram did for Cold War geopolitics.

That's brilliant.
I think you should send this article to all media outlets and the NRL!
Very clever and gave me a great laugh.:D

Very well written article. However no one will publish it because they are too scared Scam the almighty wont talk to them anymore.

Unless Jack's goes down with injury, I can't see Croft playing 1st grade at the storm.

Jokes aside, if he is refusing to take advice from Scam, wouldn't he be the same here with Dce and therefore is he with it.

I thought it was interesting in the storm game against the Broncos 2 weeks ago when the Broncos scored and Munster and smith coming across in cover defender, smith gave Munster a fairly weighty shove after the try was scored.

Not a very pleasant man is cam.

I thought Croft was the messiah and TBaz could learn something by dropping a player just like Bellamy did but is a poor coach who wont.

Its almost like people were very wrong here
