The use of GPS satellite monitoring isn't new to rugby league, not least the Sea Eagles, who have been at the vanguard of revolutionary technology in the NRL since 2005. But this season, there are two major advancements that have coaches and their support staff salivating.

The NRL gave the green light for players to wear GPS units in matches - and therefore providing real-time statistics during a match.

Yet Manly's high-performance unit has taken things further. GPSports, the Australian company that introduced the technology to the sporting world, has installed a system at the club's Narrabeen training base that gathers reams of important data from various locations.
