I’m off next week on the caravan for 3 months heading north to Burketown , Normanton & Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

And yes you know what that usually means !!

A long winning streak.

For those of you that are new I’ve been taking these trips every few years ( not last year of course ) and each and every time I do the boys put on a run of wins.

It also means I won’t be quite as active on the page as for some of the trip I’ll be out of range.

We head off after State of Origin next Thursday.

Oh, and yes , the rods will be packed ( including my big mother****er beach version with the Alvey on board). But the payoff is we have to do some “ touristy stuff” so it’s not all beee and skittles.

So let’s hope we can get over this injury crises and stay entrenched in the 8.

Stay safe & enjoy mate…

Nice one Mark, on both fronts. The holiday and what it means for us winning! Watch out for crocs up there!
Oh yeah mate I’m an old hand with those bastards.

You need a boat , I don’t have one but I’m paying for a few trips which will keep me safe.

Funny story , pulled up for lunch near Normanton a few years ago on my way to Karumba.

There was an old guy in a caravan with a little dog doing some fishing off the bank on the Norman River , the dog was running up and down and yapping loudly.

So I said to him , maaaaate , you do realise there’s more Crocs in that river than Barramundi and that little dog of yours is saying “ come and eat me “.

He told me to **** off , and I said “ well it’s your life so go for it “.

I then proceeded to eat my sandwich and just before we moved on I heard his wife arguing with him saying “ didn’t you hear what he said you bloody dickhead”.

I assumed they moved on as there were no reports of Victorian tourists being eaten.

They are sneaky bastards , you can’t see them but they are there just waiting!!

Drove through Hell's gate and the gulf in the early 90's ... stopped in Karumba for a feed of the world's best gulf prawns ... only to be shown a handful of little buggers the owners said were brought up from SA ... said all the local stuff went straight from the trawlers to the refrigeration ships and then off to Japan ... I hope things have changed a bit ..

I was there on 2015 and you’d be correct , was there again in 2017 and still the same .

I now believe the supply chain issues are so bad that most goes to Australia these days.

Enjoy mate, I'll be taking my bus up north probably next year, doubt I'll get into some of the places you'll make it to because of my size but still looking forward to seeing that part of the world, stay safe mate👍

Nah I’m going pretty remote for a fair bit of this trip , but Normanton / Karumba are all on the black top ( even if it’s a single lane job).

Remember if we make the finals you can **** right off to the middle of the Simpson.

sounds like a great trip enjoy!

Disappointed in you Mark by not planning this 3 month trip to start in mid August, nothing better than starting a winning streak and Manly getting premiership number 10.
