I just wish he had scored a couple of the tries he missed out on (in close games - Penrith & C-B at Brookvale for example) earlier in the season. We would probably be in the Top 8, with just 3 or 4 more tries at critical moments.

Imagine if he didnt miss those 2 years.

He is the most complete Manly fullback ever to pull on the jersey imo.

He actually missed three years if you count 2003. He'd already be over 200 tries now if not for that - at least 30 clear of Slater who started in the same year.

Just for fun, I'll try and add it up.
Forgetting any game missed up until 2009, he had 92 tries until his 2009 injury, from 117 games. That's a strike rate of 0.78.
In 2009 and 2010 he missed a total of 44 games. In 2011 he missed 7 games, 6 in 2012, 9 in 2013 and 4 in 2014. Not even counting games he limped off injured during that time, that's a total of 70 games missed.
If we give him his try ratio of 0.78 for those 70 games missed, that's 54.6 tries.
Even if we be completely rude to Snake and give him only 40 tries in that time frame, today he would've scored his 200th.

Sorry if any of those numbers are wrong, but I think they're pretty close to accurate.

The snake will continue to re-write the record books before he is done, our best full back since Eadie and in a class of his own as a finisher and ambassador for our club!

I saw wombat play towards the end of his career in the early 80's and he was a wonderful player however snake is my choice

Snake needs another 4 tries to equal Terry Lamb's 164.

He needs another 5 to equal Andrew Ettingshausen's 165.

After that there is only Billy Slater (currently on 172), Beaver on 180 and Ken Irvine on 212.

Snake has played 216 games for Manly. A strike rate of 74.07% - easily the best currently active in the NRL for those who have played 100 or more games.

Lamb scored his total in 350 games. A strike rate of 46.85%

ET played 328 games for his 165 tries. A strike rate of 50.30%

Slater has played 277 games. A strike rate of 62.09%

Beaver played 349 games. A strike rate of 51.57% and the only forward in the top 10 all-time try scorers.

Mongo Irvine played 236 games for his legendary total. A strike rate of......89.83%. Not bad at all considering he played in losing Norths sides for the majority of his career.

Irvine was a freak, no doubt about it. I'm bummed that his career finished before I was born so I have only seen him play on video.

On the other hand I'm very thankful that although I've only seen him play on television that I have been around for Snake's career.

I'm happy to report I at least saw Beaver play two games live and he scored both times. The 1996 GF (I was in the SW corner of the SFS that day) and I saw him score two tries against the Adelaide Rams at Hindmarsh Stadium in late 1998, one of them a 70 metre effort where the Rams couldn't get near him.
