Announcement Site performance question

Hi,

Just wondering if everyone can give their opinion on whether the site has been running faster and more smoothly over the past 24 hours? (besides the last hour as I have been running stress testing on the server over the past hour)

The other day I added some tweaks to the server configuration to see how it was running and from looking at the stats and benchmarking it seems to be have been much smoother and our database is not running away with the server CPU's anymore.

Oh and my load testing is still ongoing. I am currently stress testing the server with 40 concurrent connections to the front PHP page 50,000 times, 10,000 are left to do so another 15 minutes or so, after that we should see the service increase massively, as that is not usual traffic for us.

I want to tune it enough that perhaps I can avoid the large scale re-provision tomorrow

Stress testing is now complete we should see the speeds back to normal flow

Slower to load quotes and change threads.

I think the site is definitely running quicker.

The bulk of the content is loading within 2 secs.

I have a monitoring running and its running at 5-6 secs to complete a full page load. From what I can see most of the lag after 2 secs is the ad plug ins.

With ads running the following times are:

https://silvertails.net/forums/ 6.50 secs
https://silvertails.net/forums/rugby-league-forum.16/ 6.10secs

With adblocker:

https://silvertails.net/ 4.6 secs
https://silvertails.net/forums/ 2.46 secs
https://silvertails.net/forums/rugby-league-forum.16/ 2.99 secs

I ran a test with adblocker on to confirm that core content is loading around that 2 sec mark.

I am running a 75 Mbs connection and getting a ping of about 19ms

Yes this is my experience too, without ads its going to be a lot faster but generally pretty zippy and the server stats are pretty good now the load testing is done

I'm Platinum virgin,......I get nothing for plugging them, and I tend to find wifi more distracting than a benefit, unless its longhaul, Delta long haul free messaging is fun

Nup, those days are gone, I’m up the back using my hard earned frequent flyer points with a bog standard membership.

No lounge access ( Qantas either).

This is apparently how the peasants fly but I’m not used to it yet.....lol!!
