Seven wins, a 13th placed finish and four wins outside the eight, Manly’s 2016 was a disaster, and in no way resembled the new era that fans were expecting after a brilliant recruitment drive.

I think the biggest problem was the setup. Taupau at 13, Lussick not selected for the first few weeks, Nate Myles on the field rather than watching from the stands where he belongs.

To be fair, Lussick was a different person and player at the start of the season. Throughout the year he became our best prop but he earned that midway through and now he's an obvious starter and leader. I hope AFB and Meehan can have a similar projectory in form in 2017 while Lussick kicks on. With Jake T and Marty T adding to the Test match form it looks promising. If Amone, Sironen and Hoppa can strive and thrive, we might have a solid nucleus for a dominant long term forward pack

I'm really keen to see whether young Hoppa can perform in the NRL. I hope he get's a shot at it.

I'm kind of hoping that if I wish hard enough, like the movie Ted, it might actually happen, and he'd disappear.

I don't imagine we'll be experiencing any weaknesses in the forwards next season. In fact I see the forwards as potentially our best asset moving into next year.
