A lot of people are going to be very pissed off if this is true.

Hopefully it isn't because groom is in the club;s plans to succeed orford aS OUR HALF.

Didn't Brisbane sign a young halfback from Penrith ? and i think this was done before Gower said he wanted out.

Apparantly we have signed Gideon Mzembie a winger from the Broncos

A YOUNG winger born and raised in Africa has been called into the Brisbane Broncos' trial side to take on the Storm in Melbourne tonight.

Gideon Mzembe, 21, will play in the grand final replay 14 years after fleeing the small African nation of Malawi and settling in Australia, where he fell in love with rugby league. A pacy winger, Mzembe scored a try for the Broncos reserves last week against Canberra, and yesterday stepped into the premier's starting side after the withdrawal of centre Steve Michaels.

Michaels was forced to spend 24 hours on a drip in hospital this week after a cut on his face that he picked up in Brisbane's loss became infected.

Mzembe lived in rural Malawi until the age of seven, growing up more familiar with a soccer ball than a rugby ball.

But when his family moved to Australia, after his father encountered political persecution, Mzembe started playing league with Norths St Joseph's at suburban Brisbane.

He has been in the Broncos juniors for several seasons.

"He's a great young kid. He's been with us for a while and he has done well in the Queensland Cup but he gets a chance (tonight) I guess," Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen said yesterday.

and Jamie Buhrer a hooker from patrician brothers in the Arive Alive cup. You can watch him in the final on 22/9.
