Journey Man
Frankly I was flabbergasted at Manly’s woeful performances throughout a pitifully embarrassing season.

For the first time in living memory no young players stepped up to fill the void left by the inept rabble that were Barrett’s men.

Crucially the promise shown by many players in 2017 stalled in 2018. The rep players paradoxically did very well in representative games but couldn’t repeat that form in club games. For this I blame the non manly coaching staff, who have been rightly and deservedly shown the door. May they never darken manly’s door again.

For much of the year manly’s defence wouldn’t have knocked an old lady off a toilet.

Next year we welcome back Des Hasler who will whip them into shape and they could do worse than follow Jake into battle every week.
The halfback Evans has it all skill wise, and is the only ambipedextrous field goal kicker in the game, so there is no reason why a good season can’t happen next year.

This was the worst season since before I played for manly. Thank Christ for the 50 nil thrashing of the eels.

Some of the games, particularly the surrender against Penrith, left me sickened and shaking with rage, If alive, I would have laced on a boot myself and taken the game by the scruff of the neck. Once a team puts on 3 tries in 6 minutes, the tactic is to put on an almighty biffo, you might concede a penalty but there would be no 4th try after that, and we win the game by 2.
