As an impartial observer of non-Manly games it's plain to see that having two refs is hindering this sport. In last night's match (Cows V 'Riff) and again in the first half of today's Souffs V Dogs match there is so much inconsistency between the two whistle blowers.
The penalty count is far too high in RL these days with refs nit-picking insignificant indiscretions. No longer can they have a 'feel' for the play as there is a second bloke with a whistle on the field.
There is only one boss.
The NRL is incompetent in failing to revert to the one ref. They make nonsense changes to the rules when this major impediment is overlooked.
Yet another black mark against the NRL.

Listen to the second video. Todd is happy. If you have a problem with the refs you have a problem with him. Who gives a **** what fans like you and I think. This is Todd's game.

The first ever time I listened in to the TripleM call team for today's 2nd half. Only took a couple of minutes to hear them blowing up about the amount of penalties that was making it look more like an NFL game, and then they went on to say this stadia policy has to end, the fans at this game have absolutely no energy and there is no atmosphere.

These glaring problems are not just on our forum, they are being complained about by ALL fans, of EVERY team, and the pundits.

FFS - what does it actually take for these pricks to understand 2 referees and stadia policy just doesn't work, but even worse than that, it is causing widespread damage to the game. Please piss off and give the reins to someone that actually listens and cares!

Sorry, I know these topics are like a broken record, but I would back a half intelligent 12 year old to make better choices than these aresholes in charge of the game.

1. Back to single ref with captains challenge. 2 unsuccessful per half. That way if there are ref mistakes (howlers), captains shoulder some of the blame.
2. Keep Golden Point but give the loser 1 competion point. Refs wont be as shy to make big calls (1 unsuccessful captains challenge in the Extra Time) and both teams get a reward for a draw after 80mins. "Golden Point" becomes a double entendre

I’m actually happy with the referring at the moment.

I have watched maybe 100 games of live league over the last 10 years and the amount that certain teams are off side is shocking.

In origin especially the referee puts the wistle away and the amount that both sides jump before the play of the ball is very noticeable. Some teams do it better than others. Melbourne for one are masters of jumping the gun. The Manly teams of the late 00s were also great at it. That’s why they won games.

It might be true that most teams are offside but just continuously blowing penalties doesn't seem to be fixing the problem because they just keep doing it

I recall somewhere something about chechin being warned to tow the line or he was going to get punted. I reckon he is almost taking the piss and following instructions to the letter regarding penalties. Reckon he is having a laugh at greenturd

I’m sick of seeing Scam Smith always offside. Finally the referees are pulling people up on it.

It will suck for a while but eventually they will get back on side. The defensive teams have dominated the comp for years. With the exception of the Tigers in 2005 the best defensive teams have won the comp.

Maybe now the teams will give more space by being on side.

This is a fault of the game as a whole being poorly officiated to the point where basic elements of
the game were being ignored by both officials and players. Now they are clamping down on everything and as boring as it is to watch hopefully the players now go back to basics and get rid of the cr@p they have been short cutting.
