After a few games we wanted new backrowers, centres, probably even new waterboys....
Well personally think with Young Schu in super form and adding toughness to his crazy skillset and now big Guoca has joined in on the other edge and though only early days, excited about both these talented 2nd rowers...and quietly confident we maybe ok here, been watching Su'A who wants Massive coin and I would not swap either for him....let me add Su'a has great moments, but is often out of the game....also have some Super 2nd rowers coming through our Manly junior's system- I have faith now in this position though an Explosive option off the bench provided the money is there is still an option.
Harper has been super at centre in attack and defence and also Parker seems to have his grit back and playing reliable, tough footy, based on form both Suli and Walker providing these 2 keep up the form, should have to work back with Blacktown...though I feel maybe Walker will walk back in immediately- in fairness he was playing at FB before injury and looked in form that as a centre...will trouble opposition defences.
Point being, between these centres and exciting kids not far off like Koula....happy enough with centres.
The ONLY position we need to look depending on the Fainu outcome, is the hooking role, where again we have talent coming through....but in reality with the importance of a quality 9, this is not a bandaid position and need to strengthen this area.

We need another edge backrower, if Sua is asking to much I would like to see the club target Egan Butcher, if we are lucky enough we could even get his brother.

I maybe wrong, but another youngster in out system - Weekes - another young gun who I think can play 1....but it's a fair call to want to add a more experienced NRL campaigner, as we did really suffer st fullback early rounds....Walker tried hard, but lacked positional play, organisation, attacking involvement and lots more...

Club is probably just waiting to see how the off contract players go by mid season or so [ or possibly sooner ] and to be influenced one way or another who to retain . If Jet ski and Siro are not retained and Schuster is more favoured as a back rower , probably need one more [ at least depth ] back rower , even if Guoca is a definite edge starter going forward but having Davey could be sufficient ., Definitely need a play maker at 6 to complement D C E , so the issue with Foz next season is another consideration of course . That is why i would still seriously consider retaining Walker , not only as a centre option but also a 6 option , and of course on the proviso that he can get back to some relatively good injury free form . Not lacking in front row stocks but would be surprised if Boyle is re signed Backs and back depth does not seem to be an issue Guess that the club is trying to cover the Fainu problem but out of its control for the foreseeable future to be sure of his future availability of course .

I’d like to see us release some of the underperformers, say 3-4 guys like Jet ski and Boyle at al.

Recruit 2 NRL quality players. A backup fullback and an edge backrower.

Then promote 2 from within the club to the top 30. Saddler and one other.

That’s assuming Manase can play, otherwise we need a quality rake too.

Yep he can, but he is a way off defensively. Koula would be a better option there.

If we look outside for the milkshake (think about it people) I would prefer we bring in a class winger (to replace Garrick) who is equally adept at fullback, rather than an out and out fullback who would have to sit in reggies (and therefore, unlikely to be anything special).

Still, I prefer to run with Koula who I see as Brian To'o mark two. He will fill out a bit by this time next year and be prime for the big time....yes it rhymes you bogans.

Yep,Sua is a dud in my opinion,if we throw big money at him, this site will be giving it to him in the future as the biggest dud signing.....Schuster,Olakau'atu,Davey are all better than him.

Perspective time.
Not all big money recruits are successful.
Perspective time

An big money experienced proven player like Staggs in the hand is certain to be more successful. than 20 unproven junior players in the bush

I have to agree with maxta.

We've got a good young crop coming through. We just need to make sure we tell them we see a big future for them. Players will walk if they think they are not in the club's plans to get an opportunity.

We may be a bit skinny in the full back position but I think we need a centre or winger that can fill in at 1. Like a Charlie Staines or Alex Johnstone (but obviously not them).

And of course 9. But if Manase is cleared and Lawton fulfils his potential, we should be fine here as well.

Honestly all that is killing us right now is the casualty ward.

Dion mentioned Egan Butcher with the hope of luring Nat as well. I know we dropped off Nathan Brown and given the sort of coin he was reportedly chasing, I'd say it's a smart call. But I think we should think about Liam Martin. That guy has a red hot go in every match. Good country boy and let's face it.....we have a history of Martins at Manly.

We will need a half and 5/8 unless Schu moves to 5/8 after Foran which I gather happens. DCE will be gone by end of 2022 I would gather to the new Bris venture. Weekes and Koula I think are more 2023 than 2022 unless they slot into Blacktown for the rest of the year and perform. Sione Fainu and Tuitavake will be around next year with Saddler as will Ben T. Depends if these all mature into high quality A Grade footballers. So yes maybe we are ok for forwards - but lots of Ifs there and yes will need to see how Lawnton plays but we need another hooker. Tippytoes hopefully turns out to be a good centre and Harper needs to keep showing this quality week in and week out. I think Walker stays - then a back up fullback required unless we keep Garrick who played damn well at fullback in that Warriors game. But again a big if for him to be here and keep playing well and then being able to play well at fullback.

I think Koula will definitely debut next year not 2023. You don’t put a player in your top 30 two years ahead of his debut. I have no doubt baring injury he’ll get game time next year.

I think he absolutely has to perform well for Blacktown first. Until they star at that level they just are not ready.

Would love Martin at Manly
