In a landmark day for women’s rugby league in the ACT, the Canberra Region Rugby League today announced the first ever Canberra Raiders women’s team, which will compete in the 2017 Tarsha Gale Cup.

The Tarsha Gale Cup is a nine a side tournament for women at the under 18 level and will coincide with the Harold Matthews Cup under 16’s and SG Ball Cup under 18’s men’s seasons from 2017 in the NSW rugby league.

Again.. Who cares !!

Women as both players and supporters are documented as the fastest growing area in Rugby League. For a Professional Club like Manly to not only ignore them but actually disband the Eagle Angels is gross incompetence.

I'm all for equality and women in the trenches but rugby league would be a mismatch.

Although I recall mo'onia gerrard saying she could tackle better than her brother mark. But that wouldn't be hard.

I was in the process of posting something similar but naturally less eloquent....plus Moz rocks.

You are a scholar and a gentleman @Moondog !!

If you make it up here for Christmas, I have a nice bottle of Tullamore Dew snookered away. That should get us started. @;)

@mozgrame I'll be in Rocky arriving Christmas Eve.Staying at the Empire Hotel. Be getting in late Xmas eve leave boxing day. I've got a bunch of grand kids up there that I've got to see but if we can fit in a couple of beers that'd be great.

I'll be in Gladstone Christmas day, back on boxing day arvo. If you can stretch it for another night...

I'll PM you my new mobile number and we'll take it from there. Chango Chango (rum bar) is just around the corner from the Empire. Not as flash an establishment as blokes of our quality are used to, but we'd probably manage to enjoy a drink there. lol

Yeah that's right on the diphthong @mozgrame however I think there is a distinction between sexually ambiguous and gender neutral. It's the difference between "Ashley" and "Ivana Humpalot" (almost)

Thanks, mate! I thought the difference between sexual ambiguity and gender neutral was - Sexual ambiguity - when sexual orientation is unclear, and gender mutual - more in reference to work, play and roles in society, like a police officer, doctor or rugby league player, for instance.

So, when it comes to names, a name that doesn't clearly distinguish between sexes and/or roles (let's say, "Ashley" the police officer) "Ashley" could be described as either a sexually ambiguous name, or a gender neutral name.

Ivana Humpalot would be most correctly labelled a "gag name", surely.

You could only find these conversations on this rugby league forum, because Manly fans are thinkers and like to rationalise subjects.

Please note ; Rationalise - attempt to explain or justify (behaviour or an attitude) with logical reasons, even if these are not appropriate.

lol

Yep! You are right I just wanted to write Ivana Humpalot. Suggestive rather than ambiguous.

Is gender mutual when you and a mate get together and mutually agree on what your other mate is?

Ooops. I choose to remain Switzerland......I mean neutral on that one.

Bloody Steersman ultra dry!! I should never drink and type, but that's when I have the most fun. It's a viscous circle.
