Manly Warringah Sea Eagles hooker, Lachlan Croker, will miss the start of the 2025 NRL season as he recovers from knee surgery.

The 28-year-old had arthroscopic surgery to his left knee before Christmas and is recovering well.

Croker is expected to be available for selection in Round 4 of the new season.

Sea Eagles hooker Lachlan Croker will miss the start of the season as he recovers from knee surgery.

The club has announced that the 28-year-old had arthroscopic surgery to his left knee before Christmas and is recovering well.

Don’t think the Warriors will be easy opponents on Friday, JFH and Barnett will be doing their best to get them moving forwards, Manly in a tighter game 28 - 20.

SEA EAGLES SOAR
Manly has entered the race, alongside Melbourne, as a genuine threat to Penrith’s premiership dynasty.

A listless Cowboys might not be the best litmus test to Manly’s premiership credentials but Anthony Seibold has the right ingredients to be a title dark horse.

Barnstorming backrower Haumole Olakau’atu was an absolute beast on the right edge. When he wasn’t steam rolling the Cowboys, he was helping to set up tries and saving them in defence.

Veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans had a field day playing behind Olakau’atu and Manly’s big forward pack including big man Taniela Paseka.

Superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic also looked back to his menacing best. If he can stay fit and on the field, Manly will be a tough proposition in 2025.

The win has seen the Sea Eagles shorten as $10 favourites for the title, leap frogging Cronulla and Canterbury.

The Warriors should be easy work this week but Manly will get an early test of their title credentials when they take on the Storm in Round 5 and Penrith in Round 8.

I hope the Wahs keep Metcalf at halfback, but highly doubt it.
Wahs will be desperate in front of their home fans and have had a couple of weeks to recover from the Vegas trip. They'll be determined but not confident. It's hard to see them stopping Manly.

Warriors never easy at home. It will be a tough game. This is one of those games we must win.

The Wahs halves were dreadful against the Raiders, but in defence their forwards got owned, the Raiders were just to fit and to physical for them, will have been a bit of a wake up call, they’ve had 2 weeks to work on it, they won’t be the same side as Vegas, think Martin may come into the side.

We should also be better for the run and come home with 2 points, Wahs are never an easy game, especially in NZ, but we have a great record over there and the boys should be chomping at the bit after last week.

Wahs have issues, feels silly to say the loss of their two wingers from last season is hurting them, but it is, their halves? No SJ, no direction, Tivita’s a quality 6, but Metcalf is not a play maker or game manger, that’s why Martin may find his way into the side, JFH is not AFB and didn’t look threatening at any stage last week, if we turn up, we’ll get the job done. I’m looking forward to us going after them.

We have to win the middle if we're a chance, even at full strength the Wahs are outclassed across the rest of the park. If they make easy metres and get on a roll they've got every chance to expose our right edge which was dreadful at times last year, hopefully it'll be a good test we pass.

You're right but a wet game in Auckland usually keeps our games tight, anyone got a forecast? We struggled for a really disappointing draw last year from an end of season point of view, this will be a good indicator of how the team is developing I reckon. We struggled with some effort areas last year that we looked pretty good in the other night, I'm prepared to write the last couple of tries off due to it being hot in round 1 and having 2 reserves for 25 minutes although I understand people who will vehemently disagree with that view.

I still maintain if our middle can hit that extra gear this season, our edge defense will improve dramatically. With the competition for places in the side and right coaching (especially man management) we can probably get the likes of Paseka and Sipley close to their ceilings.

I also think it's interesting that people have conveniently forgotten about Aloiai because he's unavailable through injury, not dropped. In the most diplomatic words I can use he is seen as an enigmatic personality within our team, but he is also part of the senior leadership group and represents a lot of our other lads. It will be interesting to see how our team settles over the opening rounds and I reckon there will be some more liberal player selections testing combinations and attempting to rotate the right players at the right times than we saw under say, Des Hasler.

The Warriors have a decent pack with their own things to prove, too - they're a good test. Manly needs to take every game as it comes and not get ahead of themselves, the boys respond emotionally quite often whether that's positively or negatively and you can see it. I reckon a few of our star athletes are maturing into really good footy players and there's an almost Menzies-esque storyline here for Cherry, I don't think the NRL will push that wheelbarrow like they do for the Eels every year but it is there. Like Trump famously said, it'll make great television!

Anyway, Manly 13+ this weekend.
