From the Manly Sea Eagles website, here is the ' Injury Update: Taniela Paseka' released on Tuesday, 25 March 2025:

Sea Eagles prop Taniela Paseka has undergone surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury midway through the first half of the Round 3 victory over the Raiders.

Taniela is aiming to be available to play in Round 25 this season following a 16–20-week recovery period.

From the 'NRL 2025, Injuries, Suspension Return Dates, Casualty Ward and Key Information for the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership Season' web page, Here is the Latest NRL Injured or Unavailable Update:

* * * (Updated: Monday, 02 June 2025) * * *

Sea Eagles forward Josh Aloiai has suffered another shoulder injury in his return match after five games on the sidelines.

Aloiai was forced from the field midway through the first half against the Broncos with a shoulder injury

"He's had a few bumps on his shoulder this year so we need to get that looked at," said Manly coach Anthony Seibold.

"Every time he has tried to get started he has taken a bump to the shoulder again.

"I imagine he'll get an MRI and a scan and we'll be guided by the medical staff."

The Sea Eagles went into the match without
Jake Trbojevic (concussion), Siua Taukeiaho (calf), Jason Saab (illness) and Tom Trbojevic (corked thigh).

Seibold said he expects
Jake Trbojevic and Taukeiaho back for the Round 14 clash with the Knights while Tom Trbojevic may be held back another week due to the short turnaround to the Thursday game.

Manly Sea Eagles
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, TBC)
  • Jason Saab (Illness, Round 14)
  • Siosiua Taukeiaho (Calf, Round 14)
  • Jake Trbojevic (Concussion, Round 14)
  • Tom Trbojevic (Cork, Round 15)
  • Gordon Chan Kum Tong (Head Knock, TBC)
  • Taniela Paseka (Achilles, Round 25)

Also, from the Official NRL Casualty Ward & Injury Information, Manly hub page, there are slight variations to the information regarding the unavailable or injured players and their return periods:
  • Tom Trbojevic (Cork, Round 15)
  • Taniela Paseka (Achilles, Round 25)
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, TBC)
  • Gordon Chan Kum Tong (Head Knock, TBC)
  • Siosiua Taukeiaho (Calf, TBC)

Figuring we will have Turbo, TKO, Jake and Saab all back on deck. Who misses out? Below is not positionally, just swapping into the 17.

Aloia out for TKO
Waddell out for Jake
Faulalo out for Turbo
Saab stays out for TT (imo)

Also that leaves Croker, Jazz and Simpkin in the 17, which I don’t think we carry all three. I think one of these three drop out and Seibs carry’s Talau on the bench perhaps with Saab on the wing. If Tom is fit, he’ll be back to fb and Lehi to the wing. Not what I’d do, but that’s what will happen.

Good headache for Sieb's to have I guess. Looking like only Paseka and Aloia are our only outs.

Seibold has already said they're not playing Turbo, and if it was a Sunday night they'd play him. Ponga will be playing injured because AOB is a genius coach.

Lodge will be dropped, they only played him for 11 minutes and those minutes were garbage.

Probably will be the following:

1. Loppa (I like this one)
2. Saab
3. Koula
4. Garrick
5. Talau
6. Brooks
7. DCE
8. Bullemor
9. Croker
10. TKO
11. Olakau'atu
12. Burbo
13. Tevaga
14. Simpkin
15. Waddell
16. Brown
17. Navale?

I expect:
Bull to start at prop and play 40+ minutes
Jazz to play 60-70 minutes in the middle
Waddell and Brown to play around 40 minutes each from the bench
Simpkin to play at least 40 at hooker.

In each of our good wins v Panthers, Cows and Broncs, which were our best defensive performances of the year, these players featured.

Bull, Waddell, and Brown have been gradually increasing their minutes over the past few rounds.

Like how O'brien whinged about their short turnaround last Friday Night, hang on, we have a shorter turnaround than you mate so stop whining about Ponga not being able to back up, hang on a minute, we had old man river who backed up
O’Brien has mentally been defeated already by reaching for the excuses bin in the presser for the previous match.

I understand now why Ponga wants out of this O’Brien coached rabble.

The most unconvincing coach since TBaz.

Some fans still may be living in the 80s (or 70s or 60s!) when there were actually teams that were 'cellar dwellers' and 'no-hopers' that you could reasonably expect to beat (if you were Manly).

That is not NRL in 2025. Look at the ladder, reigning premiers and 2 recent grand finalists are closer to the bottom than the top.

Knights have been finalists the last 2 years and will have a fresh Kaylin Ponga. They're at home and looking for redemption after a disappointing loss. And they have a better defensive record than Manly.

It's not a gimme!!
(but we'll win)
