So the recent conversation re: Green's worth, and the value of DCE this season has me thinking - what are all of our layers worth on an open market?

Obvious the Salary Cap, and third party payments make the water murky..... so lets just ignore EVERYTHING for a moment and instead let's assume all contracts are null and void, and so every one of our players is up for grabs.

What would each player fetch on the open market based on their role, their ability, their age etc?

For further direction, ask yourself 'what stupid $$$ would Parra throw at this person if they came onto the market?'

I have had a terrible attempt at it below - but it makes me reflect..... Bozo and TB and others have done well to assemble this squad..... because I am sure many are not on this $$$

1. Tommy Turbo = $800k
2. Jorge = $300k
3. Kelly = $500k
4. Walker = $750k
5. Uate = $300k
6. Green = $500k
7. DCE = $1m
8. BJ = $350k
9. Happy Api = $400k
10. Kapow = $600k
11. Winter = $300k
12. Curtis = $400k
13 Jake turbo = $600k

Starting 13 = $6.8m

Myles = $350k
Hastings = $500k (future potential)
Brown = $350k
Fonua Blake = $250k
Lussick = $300k
Wright:= $300k

Others: $2.05m

Not bad but id think jorge would be on at least 500 k .
You reckon?

I love Hoorhay for his passion and ability - but $500k for a winger feels huge.

Having said that, Parra are stupid, and throw silly money at 'non-critical' positions - so maybe this is quite reasonable.

I wonder how much dosh the #1 winger in the comp actually commands?

In the current & future market, we should be happy that we locked in DCE for about $1M per season.
I actually agree. I know he copped plenty of stick for the contract value - but when you think about the kind of stupid money that Parra and others throw at unproven players, this $1m fixed price contract for the rest of his career feels like a steal.

imagine in 4 years, when we have the #1 half in the game (who has won 3 or 4 comps - more than Johns or JT) and he is on $1m..... we will be LAUGHING!

Yeah I think your close the mark here.

Parra would probably pay 1M for Turbo.

Uate is closer to 400k+ in the form he is in. No way he is 200K less than BK.

If Merrin is on a rumoured 750k, then Kapow is worth 800K.

Id say also that AFB is probable pushing the 300k region. He has alot of impact off the bench. keeps the intensity once kapow leaves the field.

Not sure mate but 300k id think he would walk . He has bad hands at times but he more then makes up for it with metres gained .I think if we r getting a bargain if its 300 k .

I seem to recall

I wonder how much a Manly of today could afford to pay a reincarnation of Graham Eadie or a Bozo Fulton and hang on to them for ten years.

It is a very difficult balancing act.[/QUOTE
Arko would find a way.

Find it terribly hard to belive kelly would be anywhere near 500k... An untested rookie in his first actual nrl season, not a chance .. Closer to 200k ide hope

I thought DCE was signed to a % contract? As in he gets say 15% of the total cap value? Which at the time of signing was about the $1M mark and any future cap increase adds to that $1M?

For the record, DCE is the TEN MILLION DOLLAR MAN. Years or annual cap hit or any of that is just noise. All that matters (if you're the Australian media anyway) is that you call him the TEN MILLION DOLLAR MAN.
