with the exception of one miss on norrie i thought Josh Perry's desperation in defence was sensational, particularly on our line.fantastic stuff.he needed to step up with kite and rose out and he did just that.great performance!!

Perry did well. I thought Cross was the one who overcommitted and missed Norrie. A big improvement tonight from the big man. Maybe we should tell him every week that Origin is about to be selected.

yeah i think cross came up with the miss ,josh just didnt cover from the inside.otherwise absolutely great.he can be so good when he wants to be.

Josh Perry is one of those players who seems to attract the knockers, but tonight he had an absolute belter of a game. He played better than I thought he could, if he keeps that up he will be in SOO for sure and maybe even get a new contract he wants!

Played his best game in ages tonight and wouldn't be surprised if he was our leading metre gainer. I think he took on the mantle of leading from the front given that Kite was out. His first run was a negative gain but he certainly made up for it from that point on. Want to see that sort of effort consistently from him.

I was surprised to see Perry get so many mins in the first 40 but was very pleased with his workrate (then i figured Des wouldn't play Buhrer) and i think, despite it being one game, he's done enough to convince Bello-me to wear the origin jersey.

I mean, even Choc didn't drop balls...what's going on?!?

Choc didn't drop any balls but he gave away yet another penalty for reachign around and hitting the ball out of the dummy halfs hands.

When is he ever going to learn that he will be penalised every time he does it?

Well he isnt because he is thick, unfortunately its good and bad with Choc, as long as the good outweighs the bad we will have to live with it, at this stage it does.

Choc didn't drop a ball, but he did drop off his tackle on Cronk.  If he'd held on to the leg, that would have been a double movement and disallowed.  Anyway he was excellent in all other aspects of his game.  Now to follow this up with another next Monday night.  Eggson, I too was surprised to see Perry out there for so long.  Maybe that's the challenge Des put to him.  He had a cracking game.

I distinctly remember Perry's involvement in the first set of the game. He was man handled by four big boppers on the first hit up. He then came back and took a significant run just before the fifth to round out a great first set. It was very pleasing to watch.

Great effort all in all.

Amen to that. He tried the same caper earlier on in the game but missed the dummy half's hand. And I'm almost 99% sure he was penalised for the same thing in one of the earlier games (Cronulla ?). He doesn't learn. It's a stupid play because it is only ever going to end in a penalty to the attacking side. Choc is the most frustrating bloody footballer, he is like the girl with the curl on her forehead, when he is good, he is very, very good and when he is bad he is horrid.

It was a match winning tactic by Gift on Smith in the 08 GF.

No worries, knew what you meant, just being a smart a.... That was then, this is now, it's virtually a guaranteed penalty every time these days, especially if you don't let the dummy half clear the ruck by taking a step or two. Just a stupid play in my book.

Have to agree in relation to the storm. One of the most obvious plays in that game that would most certainly have been a talking point in the tactical meetings when we play them.

Might still be worth a look in games with other teams, although i guess its the reffing these days that nullifies it.
