People Need To Speak Out

All the talk in NRL land has centred around Manly's "big three" taking up too much cap space.

What about the Roosters big 5 of Tedesco, Keary, Cordner, Chricton and Radley? The media themselves have reported that their contracts range between 750k and 1.1 million dollars. (We won't even bother mentioning the most expensive junior in history, or the plethora of rep stars who support them.)

Why doesn't anybody ever speak of this?

Because simple mathematics shows that it is literally impossible for their squad to be salary cap compliant, and they are not alone.

James Hooper, (the painfully annoying turd that he is,) mentions the Suaali, disclosure agreement that the Bunnies made him sign, and how it relates to him being paid by a club benefactor. No doubt, uncle Nick has lobbed that little grenade back at Rusty.

Last night on channel 9 after the game, the camera panned to the Parra dressing room & there were a heap of brown paper shopping bags on a table & the panel - Bracey (?), Slater & Thurston - all cracked up laughing & joking about being on the wrong side of Sydney for THAT.

It really is a joke how blatantly obvious Roosters roster is over the cap & how everyone & anyone involved in the sport knows it & just laughs about it.

Yup, whenever anyone did.... Phil did a big sigh, rolled his eyes and rattled off 10 or so that the roosters let go.

I mean...it's not the point but unless you're cronk telling phil to pull his head in...the rest of the journos are too scared.

I'm not sure the point of the article was comparing caps with sombreros though, more like how...oh I dunno...the big three exist, backups and a gang of supporting players don't at Manly.

Hasnt suuali signed a mega contract. He is in there top 30.
I dont think radley is on a mega deal though and the morris boys are on deals closer to parker

Brown paper bags! Quite funny how the panel was straight on it, what’s the offical stance on cash bonuses for winning? Cap restrictions or a free for all for the wealthy clubs, sure would explain plenty when looking at some rosters.

And simple too, it’s not a bonus or cap related anyway, just a gift, donation, or something, anything outside the cap restrictions, cause we like you, your a good guy for signing a deal worth 200k a season. It smells bad.

Radley was reported at $750k. Then there's the following rep players, JWH, Tuakhiaho, Tupou, Manu, Friend, Morris twins Collins etc....

The article alluded to the fact we can't afford good backup players due to the big three. That's how I read it anyway

Suaali was the dubbed the highest paid junior in NRL history. Massive contract offered by the Rabbits. Then he signed with the chooks and the whole narrative suddenly changed. It became a story about whether or not the NRL would relax tbeir eligibility rule.

If Radley is on that, they are paying overs. No disrespect,as he’s a good player, but he is only 23,not a playmaker and is yet to play Origin or Test footy. If the Tigers or Manly were paying that much for a similar player, the media would be criticising the clubs handling of the cap

At least the Roosters players deliver performances commensurate with their salaries (however much in excess of the cap they are). Ours are overpaid and underperforming currently.

Radley was considered a certainty for NSW last year until he was injured. He's an absolute gun who dominates in both attack and defence. Can play lock, hooker or 5/8. Plenty of clubs would throw their hat in for Radley at $750k I reckon. The Chooks lost their way without him. Same class of player as Brandon Smith.

Roosters got lucky with the Morris boys, both unwanted by their clubs and both love playing, so the Roosters pick Brett up for substantially less than what the Dogs were paying and wins two premierships, which no amount of money can replace at this stage of his career, and now Josh is seeking to do the same.
