Penrith’s fearsome forward pack

Nathan Cleary stole all the headlines this season. The young halfback’s meteoric rise, along with new captain Matt Moylan and explosive winger Josh Mansour, led to Penrith making the elimination finals this year. And while the star backs were firm in the limelight, it was Penrith’s forward pack that did all the heavy lifting in 2016.

Despite the injury curse once again striking at the foot of the mountains, Penrith proved that their skilful forwards don’t even need to play in the forwards to have an impact. Season-ending injuries to five-eighth Te Maire Martin and left centre Peta Hiku saw Bryce Cartwright and Tyrone Peachey move to the backline for the final few months of the season – and excelled. And with the return of Martin and Hiku signalling Peachey and Cartwright’s return to the forward pack, it just makes it even more scary to the opposition.

The riff seem to have 2 full first grade teams to choose from (not sure how they manage that cap wise but that is another story). Aren't some of their players going to get fed up playing reserve grade, as they can only pick 17 each week to play first grade

Another team with an Amazing accountant - especially considering massive upgrades and the addition of SOO players on the top shelf dollars....
Actually don't mind the Panthers these days - play some good footy and so much talent in their youth.....so important....
Blacktown is the best signing Manly have made in a long time - huge junior base including a massive pool of future stars....will reap instant rewards here imo.

Maybe you can go and post this in the Panthers forum .

And after all the support I've given you over the years. lol

This is the rugby league forum, mate. Not the manly only forum. The title of the thread is a fair warning to the content of the article/s. Why read them?

Quick question, are you and delz one and the same? I only ask because you both seem to have difficulty in the correct placement of full stops and exclamation marks. @;)

Thanks for posting @mozgrame remember this is a footy forum guys. Not just Manly. I am happy to read about other clubs too. Gives us a point of reference for how we are tracking relatively speaking. Penrith should be a real force next year. They have a lot of young talent starting to hit their peak.

Cheers @Clint I shall continue to post them to help keep the site ticking along during the boring off season. You're spot on as well in so much as it's good to see what the enemy is doing.

I'd love to post more Manly stories, but they are scarce and I usually get beaten to it. I miss the footy. 🙁
