Our much maligned 2nd row.

Specifically Siro and Frank .. could we have a better 2nd row .. absolutely ..Cordner and Hess for example. But they would cost 2 to 3 times as much and we would probably have to sell Jake or Tom to afford them.

Last year we had arguably the most inexperienced 2nd row in the NRL, Siro's first year in the forwards and Frank"s first year in the NRL ... for mine they were solid and gave the team much of our needed shape in both attack and defence .. and while neither hit hard like Matai ... neither missed too many either.

I believe their "apparent" lack of run metres, so often raised by their detractors, is more the result of the teams overall game pattern than any inherent lack of ability or conviction. This is borne out by the fact that we are still one of the leading team in overall meters gained. In Frank's case I also believe Green's fondness of cutting him out and having him run the decoy line contributes to his low yardage.

2018 will see both players more confident and in Siro's case more mature and ready to dominate. Whilst they may not be the best 2nd rowers around, I reckon there is only a handful of representative 2nd rowers better.

I don't think they are the weakness that many think they are.

PSS .. and I am always right, most of the time, statistically speaking ...

I agree and imho Sean Lane played pretty solidly in the few games he played and although slammed for his defence by many here, his tackle count was pretty good ... + two try assists ... if he steps it up a notch or two with Tanginoa and Jack Gosiewski we have a pretty good second row rotation .... they may just sqeeze out the Poo ...:mm:

Lane played well in attack and defence, what he lacked was aggression and initiative.
He is still a very young player and it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to be a top RL player. If he makes that decision he has all the attributes to make it happen.

Quality back rowers churn out the minutes the big tackles and the big metres every game . They don't go missing in action. They go looking for action .
There are some quality back rowers out there!

Winterstein just doesn't get used for some reason. TB's game plan I presume. He could probably offer a bit more than he gets the chance to show.

Apart from a few one-eyed/deluded Manly supporters, I don't think there is an NRL fan alive that would take Sirro and Winterstein over Hess and Cordner. Don't be so silly! But I will ask around and get back to you.
Then I'm deluded 😱...........checked the stats of back rowers from other clubs & not many better than our Manly boys :flogger:

You must be delusional as I am still to find a person, who's not a Manly fan, that rates them above Cordner and Hess. If I find just one other person who agrees with you, I will admit defeat.
