The Raiders Bulldogs game will be intense to say the least. The Faders are beyond desperate now. Ricky is looking more suicidal by the day, and Barrett will want to show last week wasn't a flash in the pan, against a team that's getting worse by the week.

It's hard to pick a winner of that game, the SMH "experts" reckon Raiders by 10.

6pm game in Canberra will be nice and chilly.

Raiders v Bulldogs, 6pm Friday, GIO Stadium

The Raiders celebrate their Old Boys’ Day and will have zero excuses to come out flat against the Dogs. Canterbury are riding high after their gutsy 16-12 triumph over the Sydney Roosters, but the Roosters were disappointing in attack and threw little at them. Matt Burton is sure to cause plenty of headaches with his monster boot. Jarrod Croker is back in the centres and will offer some experience and calmness when needed, while Adam Elliott will be another player looking to produce a season-best game against his former club. Raiders by 10.

Always get a chuckle out of the term ‘firing up for the old boys!. They are on enough money to do their job and fire up every week. They weren’t even born when the old boys were plying their trade, so probably have little connection unless they came through the club being mentored by them.

Sometimes people get caught up the minutiae of their day to day tasks. Things like old boys day can invoke a feeling of playing for something bigger than individual performance. It's a placebo but if it works it works.

Can see what happens to souffs when they don't have whistle/bunker clowns giving them constant leg up penalties and blind eye decisions.

Watching this game dispassionately, I’m noticing that possibly Atkins isn’t biased, he’s just a really bad referee.

He gets sucked in to the players’ bull****, and gives penalties when they’re clearly milking, grabbing the tackler etc. Jake had no chance in that environment.

Souffs no good when its 14 on 13 they need the 14 V 12 scenario to lock away the win .

Also they boned the wrong half ,blind Freddy could have told them that grub Walker was nothing without the cool and measured skill of a non grub like Adam Reynolds .Suck shyte Souffs scum you are sowing what you so richly deserve

Broncs really made them pay for every dropped ball and error, their only hope is Latrell when he eventually gets over his hammy.

The penalty against the Broncos for the raised forearm when he had the ball was ridiculous - it happens how many times a game? - even Brandy couldn't believe it.
It did seem that he had the bunker in his ear for that just like the send off last week?

Then the accidental knee to the back of Cody Walker when Atkins couldn't blow the whistle quick enough was, again, another one that had the commentators perplexed.
Even more so to me when a play or two earlier he let a Walker forward pass go that was...play on.

It's like he was willing Souffs back into the game when they were no chance yet last week when we battling away he's calls a forward pass from Tui - that again had the commentators questioning it.

Definitely struggling I think.
