Yes i know. You all hate me. I would be using Dugan and Snake at the back. Dugan you can use as a ram and snake you can use as a 5/8. No genuine halfback i know but in J. Reynolds and Mullen you have a left side and right side player and a left foot and a right foot kicker. The forwards, you can Shuffle around Gallen, Merrin and Woods. Yes, i know Watmough is on the bench but i think he offers more punch from there. I can't see him at lock and i can't see Cordner or Scott coming off the bench with Success. I'm not a massive K. Gidley fan but He has mountains of experience and can cover hooker, half, 5/8 and centre. The wings and Fullback are well covered. lol

I don't get Gidley, don't understand the Gidley, don't need the Gidley, don't want a Gidley.

Hardest working, busiest player in the history of RL with absolutely zero result.

Does he hold the world record for the number of SOO appearances without a win?

Who also wins games? Just being able to cover several positions isn't enough, you have to be effective as well, and as I hinted his involvement hasn't led to much success in the past.

But to answer your Q, Ferris can cover Hooker, 2nd row, locke, 5/8 and centre, but I wouldn't being using a utility anyway. There is enough talent in the 13 to cover any problem and in SOO I would go with a 4 specialist forwards

Damn, That may be the reason I haven't been asked to coach.

I'd probably make the forwards hunt and kill their own dinner for a week before the game.

NSW need to ensure they have 2 props on the bench and i dont rate merrin as a prop. If gal is to wear 8 the bench has get across the ad line all night. Gal has the numbers but doesnt always dent the line. Same with merrin. And no T rex for this role either, specialist metre eaters that bend the line all the time

Im happy with gal at 8 and merrin in there somewhere but not as a prop. Not sure about gidley but a genuine sub that annoys the **** out of qld with speed. NSW pick 2 many backrowers and replace players that are going well and dont need the break to accomodate them

Tim grant is a must somewhere, way before tamou but both with woods would be ok. Grant and woods coming on later would be pretty hard to stop

I know A.reynolds is a risky move, but if he can find the form he had last year he will be a quality NSW no.7. NSW need to start picking a halves combo that will work for the future, even if it means losing this Origin to let the reynolds boys settle into the 6 and 7.

Lets face it, the NSW team this year is inferior the QLD.

Looks great Stevo but..
No Dugan - Tupou or maybe Jorge - NSW have destroyed some wingers over the years - Wolf, Uate, McManus, Merritt ( he doesn't really count as he was a bum anyway )
And we need a goalkicker.

I'd be happy with that.

jbb - I forgot about Grant so he could be in there too and he'd be chomping at the bit to get another crack.

As I mentioned on another thread, Reynolds from Souths doesn't set the world on fire playing behind a dominant pack so what makes us think he'll do it behind a beaten one?

Neither team do it though. Wonder Why?

And yet, they did.

Don't think it will help them though.

Luke Lewis can cover a few positions. Not enough though. If anyone in the backline goes down NSW are effed.

And if a back doesn't go down we haven't wasted a bloke sitting on the bench for most of the game like DCE recently.

It's a gamble either way Stevo, but as you said we have players to cover in emergency, and I think we are f'd either way.

what does YART stand for?

Yet Another Rant Thread :)

Probably from on Old Unix Coder, as it has a command 'yacc' - yet another Compiler compiler - ahh the good old code cutting days :sleepy:

YART stands for “Yet Another Ryan Team” this is probably the first and most well known meme of the site. A poster of the site, known as Ryan throughout the early days of the site, and in fact still today enjoys coming up with various combination’s for different team lineups for the mighty Manly Warringah Sea eagles. These teams are at time controversial, other times they are quite normal and yet others they are just outlandish. YART’s are no longer restricted to Ryan and these days many posters choose to put their idea for a team line-up under the title of a YART. One of the more famed YART’s was with the selection of Adam Cuthbertson, prop/backrower on the wing
